I got the idea for this last summer when I was playing around with my step-dads S2000. I opened up the airbox and found it used a cone filter inside the airbox. To me this seemed like a pretty neat idea, getting the large surface area and flow benefits of a cone filter, with the heat shielding effects of the airbox. So i decided to have a go at it, and I think it turned out pretty well. Keep in mind I still have some more sanding to do to smooth things out, as well as take town the rest of the ribs inside the airbox, but so far I like it.
It sounds good without being as loud as your typical CAI, and because there is no long pipe for the air to travel down, throttle response is excellent! Plus best of all, looking from the top of the engine, it looks 100% stock!
