    Eric.
I've had coilpacks replaced and a door lock module replaced under warranty at Norden and I've had revo installed the whole time. Never had an issue. I thought they were pretty good to deal with. Go figure.

Even if someone talks here about the modifications to their car , I would think it would be nearly impossible for a dealer to prove that YOU are that person.
Message board discussion seems a pretty weak arguement for denial of warranty service.
Let's just say it's been done....Keep your warranty issues to PM's please unless you don't like to have warranty on your car. The dealer has every right to inspect and deny warranty claims if they suspect or get a call from a user on a forum. It's pretty crappy but there are shiesters among us.... Watch your backs people.

LOL no they don't. That is like saying I can phone a business and have a guy fired just because I called them. To deny any warranty claim a dealer has to have proof that the mod actually caused the malfunction of the part. I really think that whole thing is stupid and that is the reason I have never had a car with a warranty and never take my car to a dealership for work. Hell when I took my car in for a borken window reg they where trying to tell me I would have to pay for it like I was stupid and had no idea what was wrong with my car. Stupid coil packs fail if looked at funny and I will leave my arguement at that.

Find a new dealer!!! That F'in blows that they would be spying.....not even spying, who cares what is seen on here, just the fact that VW remains hard nosed against any form of modification, rather than just being happy we bought friggin VW's and are keeping the scene fresh and alive, is rediculous.......VW needs to wake up, and look towards the "other" car lines (mazda/mazdaspeed, Toyota/TRD, Ford/SVT, Honda, Dodge/MOPAR, etc) and support some form of modifications, other than the "R" line crap that has minimal impact....Man am I pissed when I hear this crap.......

              Re: Dealer can detect REVO!!!

Perhaps if there is concern over disclosing private information publicly, we could have an "invite only" advice and technical concern board category that will only appear to forum members who are verified (ie paid members who attend meetings at least once and a while).

I know that Dave has important other loyalties, so it is extra nice of him to mention that it may be a good idea to watch what is disclosed on the forum.

I know that if we as a group DID have knowledge of one dealership abusing information on this forum disclosed in good faith by our members, we could probably try to respond in an active way. I would suggest to anyone with such intentions that you can better serve your cause and business by supporting VW owners in a friendly way.

Everyone has their favourite and least favourite dealership, and it is very nice having a place to talk about it where "free speech" is the policy.

It would be nice if we COULD support a dealership actively... However I guess the "price" for a dealership for such an association would be fair treatment and fair tolerance for mods - specifically for making warranty judgements on "borderline" cases. Sadly, I do not see that happening in Calgary in the near future, as this one example has helped highlight.

Indeed, VWOA is still sleeping and not a chance to wake up any soon. With their uber low quality built OEM parts, not even worth standing on the same line with whatever sportier version of other manufacturers has.

I remember VW said something like they will not do something that’s going to be hot for the market but to do something that can last. Doesn’t matter. I want to buy something I like at the moment not something that I think I can use it for 20 freaking years. Lets look at the Phaeton and Touareg. I think those POS failed badly. VW deserved the lost of sales worldwide because their theory and the cheap quality parts doesn’t work.

REVO can get detected? Good news. Someone should go back to the drawing board. LOL.

                  Re: Dealer can detect REVO!!!

I got a notice from our "technical specialist" a few months ago saying that the only way to check if a car has been chipped is too phisically check the ecm to see if it has been opened or take the car for a drive and "test" if for more power. We do have a new system (Gecko)that our scan tool goes online and is run through Auburn hills (vw headquarters) then sent to Germany to verify key codes, new ecm etc. I have used it a few times but not on chipped cars... hmmmm not sure if that is "the" special tool. I will try to find out more. Maybe Dave (dnf motors) you have played with Gecko more than me? Also on the new A5 i looked closly on the ecm mounting, they used a headless bolt (rivet) to secure the ecm so that if it is removed you can tell right away! Bastards!!

I think that's a great idea, having a "Members Only Tech Forum". At least we know who's who in the zoo.

I do have other loyalties But I'm torn between them. Can I have the best of both worlds? Or is that a pipe dream?

I agree, invite only! I'm on a number of boards that are modified for signed up users vs. paying or active "regulars".....forums not visible to everyone!! Lets do it, I may feel better about this now.....

actually that is a good idea.

as to VW's take on Mod's and warranty, this is not a new thing for them. A co-worker of mine bought a Scirocco brand new in '78 and had all sorts of issues wiring and mechanical, I won't go into details but he had to get his motor rebuilt for a second time and they refused because he "looked like the type that was hard on vehicles" which he so isn't. He even took it to VWOC (headquarters were in Vacncouver at the time, and sat down with the prez (he was persistent) and he wouldn't do anything for him. That guy has vowed NEVER to buy another VW (and hasn't) to this day.
