  • enthusiasts first?

I might be blowing smoke out my arse but I feel a lot of tension between CVD and NVD. Does anyone else feel this way? And lastly why? Is it because one car is worth more, one car is faster/nicer or is it just the different crowd of persons whom dont really know each other?

    Re: enthusiasts first?

There should be no tension between CVD and NVD there is no reason to be any. Some people may say certain things about each club and its cars and members but yes we are all enthusiasts and everyone is welcome in both clubs and I am sure Duffy would agree!

I used to sometimes feel some tension but actually now I thought things were pretty good between the two clubs. I definitely don't have anything against CVD or the guys in their club.

Bart was broken down on the side of the road the other day and Duffy even stopped and asked if we needed a lift (we were waiting for a tow truck). Was very nice of him.

Tension? WTH? I don't think there is any at all. In fact, CVD has some of the sweetest dubs and nicest folks around. Granted, NVD and CVD is like comparing apples and oranges simply due to the model differences of our cars. But I agree with Blair and the others that we all share the same common denominator - love for the dubs

I think there's a bit simply because there's overlap. If CVD was aircooled and NVD was watercooled it might be easier. Oh, and having more females would help too.

I found that there is more chatting over here... NVD is just a little more relaxed

I don't find any tension. The only tension I found was when I started DnF. I joined CVD and wanted to become an official sponsor to help out the masses who couldn't afford high labour prices at the various VW service shops around town. I proclaimed myself as an unofficial sponsor and gave the members the $40 labor rate. I guess since Duffy works at C1 and C1 is a major sponsor of CVD, They didn't want to have anything to do with DnF. I guess I was in there eyes "stealing business away from C1" I felt shunned by some of the members of CVD at the meetings. But as a whole, CVD is a cool club. I STILL WANT TO BE AN OFFICIAL SPONSOR!!! Hint Hint!

Unlike CVD, NVD stepped up to the plate! Thanks!!

Well it is a bit of a conflict of interest - I mean you don't see companies sponsored by Coke advertising Pepsi. Still, the more the merrier I say!

The major differences I see are:

                            - Focus on exclusively Watercooled dubs with Mk3 and Mk4 and Mk5 emphasis
                            - Closer affiliation with the "import tuner" scene
                            - Not as tight an affiliation with Concept 1 (although we welcome their banner ads and many of us enjoy shopping there)
                            - Different attitude/participation/interest in racing and auto-x
                            - No official VW endorsement (there are advantages and disadvantages to this)
