  • 18" wheels and AutoX good/bad

I am looking into getting some 18" wheels and I still wold like to AutoX. I know that at least 2 of you on here have 18"s and AutoX so I was hoping for some replies. I would like to know generaly how they perform and also what a good pressure setting would be for the tires?
    thanks

You will get a lot of laughs.

The weight of 18” plus the tires will achieve the heaviest combo.

The wheels that I am planning to get are the BBS CH wheels size 18x8.5 so they are pretty light. I may be using my stock 17s for the autocross with some RA-1 tires later. But for now I want 18s and also I will be using them for track days, as the Nurburgring does not alow R-rated tires on the ring for open track days.

What about tire pressure? Bart you are one of the two that run 18s at the autocross aren't you? I think the other guy has these same wheels that I plan on getting. I can't remember his name on here, but he drives a silver tdi golf with an R32 body kit.

The silver car is Simon Aka Boy Racer.

I'm pretty sure Simon runs smaller tires on the track than his BBS CH's.

yeh, I am going with lightweight 15s or maybe 16s then some 710s in time for the nationals this year.

18s really arent too bad despite what everyone who knows everything about autocrossing "theory" say. We have heavy cars with terrible front camber, sidewall flex is very hard to control without huge pressures. At the ring you would probably have a better time on the 18s to be honest.

On my CH's I run 235 40 18 Toyo T1-S, pretty nice tire although I would probably choose something else next time.

A shameless plug but you really will wear the hell out of the outside edge of any tire setup on the front of your car without this...
