  • Just dropped off my 18s at Alberta Wheel Repair

Woop! I've been on steelies for so long that putting my 18s on again will be like taking an ultra satisfying dump... *ahem* or something along those lines. The AWR guy (Sonny? Santo? I can't recall) was very friendly and showed me all the wheels they were working on and different finishes and so on. I wimped out and decided not to paint them or go with a different finish. Fully restoring the lips, including some bad curb damage on a couple of the rims, came to $340 ($85/wheel) which isn't bad at all. I'll hopefully have them back next week. Now I just have to decide where to get tires (I've decided on Pirelli PZero Nero M&S) and mounting.

The owner guy is Santo and how did you get such a good deal, I paid about $130 a wheel, yet they did polish/paint and some extra stuff.... I would go over your rims with major detail before you leave there, mine have to go back for a second time as they didn't paint the inside hug though they did sand it Ohh and if you really want them back in a weke or two make sure you phone them atleast once a week, mine where there for almost 2 months and where only finished when I phoned and siad I needed them for world of wheels.

Well I had to get two of them refinished a while ago and that was only $75/wheel. It's a bit more this time due to the damage. Maybe it was my charming smile, who knows... I'm not complaining. And yes, I'll probably call a week from now to check up on them.

Well I still think you should have got them painted but I am sure they will be hot anyway, and I think we will have no problem putting Babette in some shows with the NVD crew!

Yeah the black would have looked good but being shaved and all she's already very very black everywhere else, so I decided to leave the wheels be. I'm very excited to get them on again. I just called Anand about the Pirellis. His first price wasn't very good ($1100 vs $800 from tunerworks) but he's going to see if he can get a better price by ordering them from the US.

I also recommend 1010tires and Contemporary Motorsports. A guy I sometimes play in poker tournaments is a/the contemporary manager, so if you want I can give you his name or something...

I actually bought my wheels from 1010 a lifetime ago. They were pretty good to work with. I don't think I'll get much lower than the $200/tire that Tunerworks quoted me though.

Make sure he gets you the right tires, that does seem like a good price.

Well I called Anand a couple days ago but he never got back to me so I ordered my tires from Tunerworks. $196 each for 225/40/18 Pirelli PZero Nero M&S. Woop. 10 days until happiness.

Woohoo. Just got a call and my wheels are ready. Although this of course happens when the guy that stores my winters for me is out of town! And I probably shouldn't change anything on my car until my accident damage is resolved, since one of my steelies was hit. So, they said one week and are done in three. That's not too bad.

It is sad that we as consumers are willing to accept such poor customer service.

I know... The only reason I'm not more dissapointed is because I know some guys here have waited far far longer.
