  • SCN Banner - New

I just noticed we've got a SCN Banner!

SCN was a blast last year.

Is this banner new? Or did I just not notice it before?

No there is 2 new ones for 2005. I have already been in contact with the promotors for the show and we have a space set aside for us already. In turn we help to promote the show by displaying banners and what not and they also have a link to us on their site. I personally am looking forward to the show again this year as it was a blast last year. So get those projects ready!!!!

Well it is a big import show with the majority of the cars being Japanese, but the lights are low and models walking around. Last year it was in Edmonton and NVD had 6 cars on display, we did not feel out of place and the crowd was great and the show was run very very well by the SCN team. We had a cool spot up front by the stage and they had dancing, a band, DJs, more models it was a great show and I am sure it will be even better this time around!

Sounds good. What level of modification do you need to be taken seriously? Do I need to start using that pre approved credit line the bank keeps offering me?

                Yes!!

Seriously to compete there you probably need a lot of mods and for sure some serious ICE but it is still fun!! They went over the judging with me and they have lots of criteria and if you dont have any stereo mods for then you instantly lose 20 points out of 100 for example. It also depends how many VWs there are, but watch out for Junior's car!

Yeah I figured stereo stuff was big on the list. Looks like I'm out (bone stock stereo).

                    Re: SCN Banner - New

Last year we entered with very few stereo mods... however we simply wanted to represent the club and weren't necessarilly looking to place or compete.

I would like to have my car in a major show this summer, however my first priority is the turbo project, which becomes surprisingly more expensive every day, and isn't going to make the car any prettier!

basically for the import shows you need to have your car at a level close to where mine is.. full kit, wheels, drop, stereo, interior crap done, anything custom,etc... of course this is only if you are trying to get a trophy if your there to rep the club you can have minimal mods and you'll still get appreciated.

Well if there's no limit on # of cars from the club I'd be happy to participate. I'd really like to do a minimal audio setup at some point -- basically just a stealth sub/amp while keeping the stock head unit -- but never know which way to go, as it's something I've never done before.

I have yet to decide which route to go exterior-wise now that my hood is finally nice and filled to match my shaved trunk. Tomorrow I'm bringing my 18s in to AWR, so we'll see if they're going to gouge me or not. Once I have those back on, I'll feel a lot better about everything.

Stop being so modest Ryan LOL

Seriously, I'm a little sad that I can't make this show this year Last year was alot of fun. From the cruise up there, to the show itself, to the 50+ G's...... Good times

Actually to hit the import show and win something, I think you also need some more serious mods such as custom paint, graphics, and lighting. Even though not everybody likes some of the 'ricier' stuff like lighting and graphics, these will get you huge points in an import show.

Moreover, the serious import cars have both go and show... hard to compete with some of the engine swaps and turbo setups you'll see at SCN! A "stage II kit" or something like that is barely touching the work that I saw on the winning cars.

Its really hard to compete since it costs quite a bit more to take the european route.

Best thing to do is respect the import owners there for how much work they put in, they deserve the awards! In turn I found that they respect veedubbers for being underdogs and staying true to a different school of style.
