Re: So any interest on a group skidplate purchase?

    Hi there.

I reviewed the response from Amie to your email on the skid plate. I thought she answered your questions. However, why don't I answer any of your questions here for everyone to see.

I have sold hundreds of these skid plates around the world and they have proven themselves to be the ultimate in protection. One broken oil pan will have paid for the skid plate. Check out the video on my site:

    Thanks everyone.

Neil, thanks for coming! My main question is regarding the photos you see at the beginning of this thread, with that piece hanging off the underside of my car. Would that necessitate needing new side guards or would that piece be attaching to the skid plate? Also, if a few of us are interested, can you do a special NewVeeDub deal? Cheers.

So for oil changes, I notice there's a charge for a hole - would you have to remove the plate each change if you didn't get it?

Also is the diamond plate stronger?

You would have to remove it just like your plastic plate (well atleast on tdi's). It is only 5 bolts so it is easy to remove. From what Niel has said on other forums the diamond is a little stronger do to the diamond shapes but it is the same thickness as the regular one.

Diamond plate??! Haha, I had diamond plate on my 77 CJ (that's a jeep). not that you'd probably ever see it, but if you did I think it would look incredibly stupid on a car unless of course you were going to make a MK4 Golf Country. I did the quarters in diamond plate too, maybe that could be a new trend haha!

              Edit: Sorry, bored but c'mon.

Re: So any interest on a group skidplate purchase?

Ok I looked at the picture of your side skirt. It appears as though the upper back clip has come off and the bottom back screw. Both are an easy fix. From the pic I would say that you don't need a new side skirt there unless it is cracked and falling apart. That side skirt new is only about $35 at the dealer.

We can put an oil drain hole on the skid plate for $20. It is a 4" round hole. With this you would not need to take off the plate for oil changes. This is only for the TDI, 2.0 and 1.8T. The VR6 would have to take off the skid plate. It is only 5 bolts to take off the skid plate. About 1-2 minutes and it is off. And the same time to put it back on.

The diamond tread will be a little stronger then the smooth because it is 25% thicker where the thread bumps are. Here is a picture. Please post with any more questions.

                        Neil,

Have you tried saying your last name with a mouth full of crackers?

I would love to have one of these as I have had a cracked oil pan on another VW I owned and it cost me (in 2000) $650.00 to have replaced.

Sadly I won't be in on this group buy as I have spent WAY too much on the cars this year already.

side note: the pan was cracked due to the ex wife hitting an up-ramp that had a pothole just before it.

I've seen like 10 cars on vortex that have that **** for floormats. But for a skidplate I'd get the extra strength just to resist denting.

Btw I tore off that plastic shield a long time ago - pain in the ass.

Are you just trying to be a dick lately? Your first comment made it sound like you didn't know they actually made diamond plate floormats. If you did know they made them, then why did you even make the comment in the first place? This is a thread about skidplates.

BTW - still haven't heard your reply to the Chevron links in the octane thread.
