Chip Tuning?

As you all know I am very new to the VW scene and nice cars in general (first car: 1992 Colt!) I had want to know more about Chip Tuning. What does chip tuning do to the car? Where do you see the change and how much of a change will you see?

oh man search vortex for this stuff

"chipping" a car basically means you remade values of the cars ECU (engine control unit) and you tell it to use more fuel,etc,etc etc

in the end the car gets more HP/TQ, better mileage,etc i'm sure simon can chirp in on this since he knows alot more than me

chips are good.. on a 1.8T or TDI its like a whole new car.. vr6's and 2.0s dont' get a huge increase but its enough to tell its a better car now.

Also have a chat with Blair, he's got a MK3 jetta chipped, so you would see similiar gains.

Yes I have the UPSolute chip in my GLX and the gains are very minimal. I would say under 10hp, but I thought it smoothed things out and improved fuel economy. If you want real power in a VR6 you need to save for a turbo or SC, but it is up to you!
