We got a chance to do some testing on a 2.0 over the weekend and the results were quite surprising. I had heard that they responded quite well to the Upsolute chip but like most others people, I was a little sceptical (coming from someone who sells them ) . Well, after back to back testing we were able to measure definate gains both in acceleration (measured between 1 and 2 seconds off 0-100!) and speed. Both tests were run up a long hill with a loaded car to make the measurements easier and to keep the speed test within limits. Being an engineer the methods were quite scientific. The car was an auto so launch and shifting did not come into play.
Moral of the story, dont give up if you are 'stuck' with a 2.0, if you dont have a 1.8t or TDi, there are still some tuning options that make sense.
