For those who prefer the FK hitek set-up - if we took price out of the equation (i.e. they were the same price) would you still prefer the FK kit? (Keeping in mind my particular requirements around being lower, but maintaining as much ride comfort as possible?)

I would probably go for the H&R kit if price had not been an issue. I don't track my car so a lowered look with a cozy ride would have been more my cup of tea. The FK handles great but I don't push my car in the twisties too much....Mind you, the cup kit for my car has a more aggressive drop (2.5" or more) and the fk with the race springs dropped it only a touch over 2".

This is all great stuff. Thanks everyone for their input. I'm gonna have to do some thinking and see what's available and in the budget.

        Re: Help Me Choose Suspension

Well even after reading the whole thread over a second time, I'm still unsure. Way way back, I had bilstein shocks and neuspeed sport springs on my 99.5 Jetta. The ride was really good but I remember wishing the car was lower. Then, when I got my 2002, I got H&R coil overs and loved being *low*, but as mentioned earlier in the thread, the harshness and noise/squeaks became tedious. So now that I'm having to deal with buying suspension for the third time for a Mk IV you'd think I'd have my **** together, but I'm still unsure. I'm leaning towards the FK 35/40 kit (I don't want to have to get a new FSB this time around) but am worried it won't be low enough.

To make things even more interesting, I was looking through the RPI equipped site and they sell the H&R cup kit for only $776CDN.

Yeh, who only knows where they get their stuff from, not sure how they can give it away like that. I can try to offer competitive pricing but the best I could probably do is match their price including shipping, has anyone got a qoute including shipping?

Actually RPI is a really good outfit. I bought my original H&R coil-overs from them a while back and their service was great. If you're up to matching prices, I'd certainly rather buy and support locally. Cheers.

                  Re: Help Me Choose Suspension

Wow, this just gets more interesting.

That cup kit is very tempting.

On the plus side: price and the look.
The cup kit is about $110 less expensive than purchasing the H&R springs and Bilstein sport shocks separately (at least on the RPI site).

And I love how the 2" drop looks.

But on the down side: need a front sway bar and scrapping issues

I don't want a front sway bar and I will be scrapping in the summer and smashing through other peoples gunk from their mud flaps in the winter

This is starting to drive me crazy.

                    Re: Help Me Choose Suspension

I wouldn't worry about being too low. I was lowered over 3" on my coil overs and I never had any problems (except getting up my parents' garage ramp in Edmonton was tough). The swaybar thing is a concern to me as well (still not sure if I need a new one, and don't really want one). I was talking to Simon about possibly getting the cup kit through him. Maybe if we both buy a cup kit and front end links from him, we can get an even better deal!

Any idea who makes a good aftermarket end link? Price?

I have two CPP front swaybar end-links, the best you can buy, never installed. If you decide you need them, I think I paid $110 US and maybe I can save you the cost of shipping and keep a few additional bucks in your pocket too. I could use the money...

Hey Kris. Any particular reason you never installed them? Just didn't need them? If I end up having issues, I might take those off of you. Cheers.
