A guy I work with is looking at buying a 1991 G60 Rado & was asking me some questions about them. I am not too familiar with that generation of VWs so I thought I would get your comments. He said it was in good condition inside & out.

I did tell him to see what shape the supercharger was in & see if it was rebuilt. Other than that I can tell him much other than they are a pretty cool car.

    Thanks, Andrew

Yeah Jason did have a Corrado for quite a while, ask him!

The Corrado is undoubtably a cool ride though, the styling cannot be beaten! I think that maintenance and any restoration costs will be where it will hurt (in the pocketbook).

The g60 has almost as much power as the VR6 (stock) and is lighter... also if this person wants to mod the engine I think there are more options available for tuning a G60.

Lots of guys on Vortex say that if you buy a used G60 rado you should immediately sink $500-$700 into rebuilding the supercharger, unless this was done recently by the previous owner.

definitely get the g60 checked. The maintenance on it is well worth it!

(and on that note, I've seen the work www.kompressorkanada.ca does, and it's amazing!)

I think most of it has already been covered like get the supercharger looked at (or at least have money put away so it can be done). I agree with all of what Kris said, the G60 is nice and much easy to mod/repair than the vr6, but they are older and so that can cause problems (like my $800 window repair bill). A lot of people give the g-lader a hard time but with regular maintenance and a rebuild once in a while, I think it would totally be worth it.

Another thing thats cool about the G60 is the (I could be getting this wrong, it's been a while) manual limited slip versus the electronic version in the VR6's.

The 91 is better than the 90 or the 92 G60's, they came with a lot of stuff standard that the 90 didn't (BBS's, digital dash, ABS, all standard), and the 92 was just a bad year because they moved to the VR6 1/2 through the production year. Umm, I guess that's probably about it for now, feel free to ask more questions.

At this time I feel it would be appropriate to give a shout out to Simon L for all the work he was kind enough to do on that car, I must say I was a little over my head when I first got that car . But thanks to his troubleshooting abilities I know a lot more about them now, heh.

Thanks guy , that is some good info that I will pass along. I would love to have one myself but it is not in the cards right now.
