The guy at crowfoot muffler shoes me where it is rubbing against the side wall at the front end of the mid pipe it also puts the muffler at an angle to melt away my bumper..... any suggestions??....I talk to concept 1 they say they have never had problems installing this system??? but from reading the threads they are not the most popular exhaust installing guroo's.....

A certain place had problems with mine... although they told me "it fits" I later melted my bumper and found out it wasn't fitting properly at all. At least the guy at the muffler shop actually takes you under the car, shows you how it fits, where the bends are, etc.

I think it is a common problem for the pre-made pipes not to fit. Why? Well, they make only one exhaust and want it to fit Golfs/Jettas made for 5 or 6 years, but there are subtle differences between these cars. Also, if you have lowered your car or done other mods like a downpipe it changes exhaust clearances.

Finally, the hangers that these ready-made system use are very poor. In case people don't know, your exhaust is hung underneath the car and is supposed to have some movement so it does not crack or break. Many exhausts come with rubber or plastic hangers that are too flexible, or can heat up and warp or melt on a chipped turbo car (the exhaust pipe will get much hotter). The best are chain hangers.

So what exactly was your solution?? the muffler shop said they could try and heat the pipe to bend it slightly in an attempt to get it to fit....I opted not to take this route. I am checking with my buddy who I purchased it from, not sure if it could be the wrong year or not....there is a 2001 sysem and a 2002+ system.....

there is a difference between the 2001 and 2002+ because 2002+'s came with a notch in the rear bumper for the exhaust tips. 2001 and earlier had hidden downturned tips

I had a place heat and slightly bend the pipe, and also got all new hangers from made scratch so that it would be held in place better.
