  • Where to get a rear window installed

So I was told by the dealership that since my car has 23,000KM on it, the rear window is no longer covered by warranty. Apparently it would have been if it was under 20K. So... any suggestions on where I get the window replaced? Will a place like Speedy be able to get OEM glass, or will it be some generic one with a 'fairly close' fit? Anywhere I can get a good deal since neither insurance nor VW, nor the space aliens that smashed my rear window are going to pay for it?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

jeff goto the place by rudy's, i was there for mine, they can get sekurit glass and give you a good price, if i remember they can give you a little discount for saying newveedub, lol, talk to the lady named Elaine there, i forget the name of the place, but they are 2 doors down... and they will do it properly. my first windshield i got done at kings glass, and then when i went there to get a second, they showed me how it wasnt sealed properly and was leaking, etc etc, so they do a good job.

I agree, the place next to Rudy's was super friendly, phoned around and got me different prices and options, and did everything fast and well. I ordered a Sekurit windshield with tint strip. Most places use really cheap glass since customers can't tell the difference - way more liable to crack and chip. Thumbs up to them!

Agreed. Most people don't know this, I think because we've never posted an official announcement thread. But Payless Auto Glass (next to Rudy's) is also our club glass shop. That is, they agreed to do NVD work plus a discount for members. Ask for Elaine or Steven. They are great people and know their business well. Steven is even a German car (Races Porsches on the weekend) enthusiast, so he's one of us

So this security glass is the same as OEM? I'm mainly hopig for the same matrix pattern around the rear windows, and possibly the little VW/audi logos in the one corner. If I tint in spring those wouldn't be visible anyway. I'll give them a call. Thanks everyone!

Sekurit makes the OEM glass, I am not sure it will have the original logos, but it will be the same glass.
