  • Winterfronts?

I have a 04 Golf and am looking to see if there are any aftermarket winterfronts out there...haven't had any luck through dealerships...they just don't make these cars for my area of the country...let me know if you have any info out there to keep me from freezing to death on my various trips...

Lol, I dont know about mk4's, but a pop cardboard flat folded out fits perfect in a mk1's front. Just pop the hood and slide it in front of the rad.

Yea Kev, might have to use some cardboard a la F150 styles! just put it on the INSIDE haha. Something on the belly of it might not hurt (not sure if you have that plastic thing everyone on here is already talking about. I know the Deisel truck guys (and I have seen a VW or 2 as well) that put the Canvas tarp under the belly but that would be REALLY bad if that pan heater was to ever fall off.

I know you guys will think I'm crazy for suggesting it but I think you really have to endure it realize just how cold it gets for how long it stays. You have to do radical things sometimes to keep mechanical devices working in those conditions.

Off topic but haven't chatted in a while, you get the Summit 670 out yet?

Edit: what about the guy that has the black Jetta? He must do something as he runs his in the winter (but maybe uses his Expedition on trips I'm not sure)

          Re: Winterfronts?

          Hey Jay,

Yea, desperate times call for desperate measures. The guy with the black Jetta is evil to his car...a buddy of mine lives next door and he has never plugged that bad boy in, so when he fires it up in the morning his car is making so much noise he has been accused of chaining persons to that pipe in the crawlspace...at any rate, the temp has come up to about -15 for the last few days so it is all good...

the 670 has to get a replacement shock and then we are flossin' and flyin' all over. You will have to pay us a visit before the winter has come to an end...so that gives you what...another 5 1/2 months! I was thinking that my bro and I would just custom build a winterfront to fit the front. It might be worth a try and see if we can come up with something that possesses a little more style than the Old Dutch box or a nasty tarp that is starting on fire or thrashing my paint job...
