    Howdy,

My 03 GTI has developed a squeaky right rear strut(that's driving me crazy) and it's time to take the car into the dealer. What have the dealers done for others who've had this problem?

    Thanks!

I've never heard of the rear shock developing a squeak (no struts in the rear). If you have an aftermarket rear sway bar, that is most likely the culprit. The only other think I can think of, would be the bushing on the lower end of the shock might need a little shot of WD-40. Free bump for ya in case someone else has heard of this problem.

Maybe you can do a test of have someone rock the rear of the car and then you hear where the noises come from.

righto, it's a shock not a strut. It is definitely the rear shock, no question about it. And no swaybar, it's in my basement waiting for spring...
