    Re: Got REVO'ed today!

What can I say? I have to admit that is seems your requests are being ignored...mine too! They have explained that for a custom file you need to do a dyno run and they don't seem to be willing to do one without, thinking about it, they probably have good reason not to. As Neon GTI has noticed, keeping close to requested at onset, careful balance of air/fuel and timing is the way to get more sustained power.... after all you are already getting less than is currently being requested.

If you want to adjust your timing and fuel then just download lemmiwinks, it is free and will let you do just that.. sean used it to tweak the big turbo file because it was too rich in his car.

I hope we can still make you happy, I think the dyno is the key here.

      Yup,

Need to get this badboy on a dyno asap. I'll try lemmiwinks out too for some tweaks. Thanks for your help though Simon.

        Re: Got REVO'ed today!

I fixed what could have been a leak which was causing my boost to drop faster then normal. The Actual/Req levels were normal till around 5500rpm which I would think my actual should start getting lower even though requesting more. The range from 3500-5500 could be sustained higher though if it was asking for more.

is this mod detectable by the dealer?
My dealer is pretty cool about most things but messing with the ecu .. they might have something to say

I'm pretty sure that they can find it if they really tried, but most dealers will not go the extent of looking for it if there are no ecu based warranty claims.

              Re: Got REVO'ed today!

The only way the dealer can detect the revo is indirectly. By that I mean looking at the boost and timing logs/blocks. They would likely go 'hmmmm' when they see a requested boost of 20 PSI.

They COULD dump the roms on the ECU, but they don't have the technology at the dealership. It would have to go much higher up before that became an option.

If you have to take it in SPS it back to stock and unplug the battery overnight to clear out the memory / logs. Viola! Just like stock.

If you buy the SPS3 then I think Revo is better, if not I think there is no difference.

price really dosent matter when its going to go for the chip. I just want the best one out there that will help me beat the guy down the block with the r32

I think they will all offer same performance out of the box. If you spend time with a VAG-COM and SPS3 tuning the car then you may be able to squeeze more out, which is why I think it is a good system. But you could do similar with lemmiwinks on any chip as far as I know..

Negatory. Lemmiwinks will not let you change boost levels whereas the SPS3 will.

There is another rumoured benefit to the SPS3 in that allegedly you can use it as a VAG-COM cable by plugging a serial cable in to the port on the tail end of the SPS unit. When I get around to it I am going to pick me up the appropriate cable and give it a whirl. If it works then the SPS units just got more valuable.

You can decrease boost levels with lemmiwinks but not increase.

                                Never decrease!! lol.
