  • Two questions...

    Hey all,

    I have two quick questions:

    1) I have a fuse out -- the one that makes the annoying neeeeeeeeeee sound when you leave your lights on and shut the car off... 'Course, I can't find which damn fuse it is.

    Any ideas?

    2) After much thought and consideration, I've decided to probably trade my car in for an '03 Wolfsburg. There are a couple of reasons for this...

    a) My leather seats piss me off. They're all cracked already... and I've tried several things to stop it... and the dealers can't make any recommendations.
    b) My car is an '01 -- only 150 hp.
    c) One of the dealers in town offered me the same as I paid for a trade-in and a wicked deal on a Wolfsburg (yes, I know someone...)

My question is: other then the horsepower, the Recaros and the Sport suspension... (Wolfsburg), what are the real differences between 01 and 03. I've heard things about the windows (?), clutch (?)...

My car is the full load with Sport package so I have sport suspension as it is... and Im not losing that by going to the Wolfsburg. I really like the seats, (mmm... huggy seats... mmmm). The horsepower difference isn't enormous, but it is enough and Im going to see Simon when I get the car anyways... (Upsolute here we come...)

And I like the bumper cut out for the exhaust...

But if anyone could shed any light on any other diffs. between the 01 and the 03 that would really help me. I'm still not 100% sure of what I'll do because I really like my Blue lagoon... but the car I am looking at is Tornado Red which I think is hot anyways...

    Anyways... /end ramble.

    Re: Two questions...

Ok, first of all the sport suspension doesnt do much/anything. I know alot of people with the sport package, and alot without it, and we've all noticed no differences whatsoever.

Secondly, the horsepower. Your 01 is most likely a AWW engine code, so its 150hp and using the K03sport turbo, exact same engine as the 03 wolfsburg except its making less boost stock. Chipping your 01 will give the exact same performance as a chipped 03.

So the only difference between the cars is the seats. Yes wolfsburg seats are awesome.

        Re: Two questions...

GLI is outta my blingage factor -- for now. Unless I hold onto my '01. I guess the things I don't like about my car are fixable -- ie: bumper cutout for exhaust, horsepower... and I could always fork out 1200 bucks for a couple of leatherwrapped racing seats from C1...

        Meh. We'll see what happens...

Now, 450 for Upsolute, yes? I guess I owe Simon a visit.

Also, how do I know which engine code mine is?? Looking at the number on ECU? I take it someone else would be able to tell me....

well i'll look at it like this.. you have blue lagoon which is one of the best mk4 colors there is.. (i wanted it but no dice on 03s :( ) but anyways chip your car buy a FK cupkit (cheap suspension upgrade).. have simon chip your car and you'll be much happier.. as for the exhaust you can buy a 4mo valence for really cheap if you want the cutout..
as for seats.. i too would love better seats than my stock leathers.. they are comfy but i would kill for oem recaros.. those C1 seats seem pretty decent (no idea on long trips) but i have to big a build to fit those things..

            Re: Two questions...

Just get the chip and you'll have the same power as the 03 would have chipped. And the blue is the best color.

The C1 seats are hot. But not heated. And yeah, the g/f freaked when I told her about the Wolfie (just now)... Her exact words "Your blue is way better then any @#$$^ing red is..."...

So I guess I have been told.

              Now about that damn fuse...

And the suspension kit Im going with is the same as Khyrons (628 bucks)... His seems nice.. Rides nice, handles nice... So I'd be happy with it.

Now... to come up with 450 smackeroos.

edit: I dont think mine has a K03 Sport... Car was built/delivered end of 2000.

Is it the red wolfsberg at northlands? I think it has been sitting there for over 4 months, more then likely for a reason.

1.the relay is dead and is located under the steering wheel

2.not bad with the deal provide with the 4 years warranty. I think warranty is a must. Window(?) Clutch(?) you’ve got it covered with the new warranty.

IMO I think is a good trade. The extra 30hp do make a difference for the people that know what they are doing.

                    Re: Two questions...

Electrofuzz, open your hood and take off the engine cover. There should be a stamp on the pasenger side side somewhere, easily seen from above, it will say AWW or AWD in your case. If it's AWD then its the old style small turbo, if its AWW then its the new style.

you mean its not a damn fuse? crap........ someone with some vw electrical skills needs to come and look at this thing then.

its not the red one at northland. the dealer is bringing it in for me. and there are four red ones at northland right now.

as for the engine code, ill know tomorrow..

I have the 03 wolfie & I wish that I had held out for the GLI. Every time I see one, especially the BMP ones I drool.

Hey, I still like my WB though. It is nice to have a few of those little things like the sport seat, 3 spoke wheel, & the BBS (wish they were 17 or 18") to seperate it from the crowd.

                              Congrats.
