  • Ok thats it life sucks.........

Well I have been without my car for over two months now and got it has been one step forward two steps back (yes the car is not finished!). So that latest is really a lot of fun. I get a call today that 2 of the rims on the car are bent (steelies none the less) and they just came off the wifes car a month or so ago when I put winters on... but the thing is they are off her car which we just bought about 3 months ago *doh* So they say there is nothing I they can do, so I just tell them to do the damn alignment so I can get my car back... but no I can't get it back yet as the fuel sending unit didn't come in today like it was suppost too (cracked durring the accident). Then I go to pick up my rim that got redone and it is ALL f&^ked up. ALberta wheel repair did a HORRIBLE job. I have monty carlos and as most know they have little screws that are molded ie not removable... well they tried to remove one.. then proceeded to try to drill it out.. then figuring that it wasn't going anywhere filled the hole with silicon *bang head* Also they painted the lug holes... they where not painted before but they did it gunmetal anyways... now I have to do the other 3 rims to match *grrrr* plus the cleancoat has a huge finger print and looks like a$$ (all splotchy). So now I have to go rip a couple heads off there and they better give me a damn good deal to do the other rims. And to top it all off the stupid ford feces has a cracked windshield now *throws hands up* Thats it I surender, take me to the mental hospital now...

      Re: Alberta Wheel Repair

I would just take them one of the "fine" wheels and tell them to re-do the bad one to make it look the same.

They don't guarantee their work? I am surprised that if they wreck a wheel they don't offer to make it right.

        Feel sorry about your situation.

There is no reason that your goal is to get ONE rim fix but now end up you have to pay extra for the good ones to match up. It sounds absurd to me on the mistakes they made. The bolts on rim for decoration purpose is not a new thing and why they cannot tell. I suspect your rim was serviced by a kid in training.

IMO don’t bother to argue with them and they will not even return the look of the rim as decent like before the crash. Is that an insurance issue? If so then discuss with the insurance company. Tell them you will not take it back as of the result of how the rim you saw today which was a horrible job. I think you deserve to get a new replacement rim or some cash if you wish.

I agree, if your insurance company is paying to fix the rim as part of the accident claim, you should get a new rim.

I would definitely tell AWR that you brought the rim in to them to be fixed, and that you aren't paying for it until it is. And if they don't like that tell them to save it for the Better Business Bureau.

Since I got it late last night I haven't had a chance to talk to AWR since I picked it up from the body shop. I have all the rims in the car so I am going to take some time off work and go there today, if they don't want to make it right I will talk to my insurance company and have them deal with them. I can't handle much more stress before I crack

Wheel repair is good but the owner is really touchy. Just bring in the bad wheel and a good wheel, show him the difference and ask what can be done. Don't throw a fit, and I'm pretty sure he'll strip and redo the bad one.

Well I didn't throw a fit but I am pretty touchy these days due to everything going wrong that possibly can! The good new is Rudy's has the car back and are finishing it up, hopefully to be back in my hands mid next week. SO I went to AWR and talked to "the man" there and he said they screwed up. As for the little screws I guess they usually remove them as they are plastic, drill, tap and put in stainless hex head bolts (which I think would look good) and that the painted center parts was another mistake due to them jsut doing a set for a dealership who swore the centers where painted that way or something. So here are my options:
                        1. Get them to refinish the other 3 rims at about $110 each. They will he hand pollished and have the SS screws.
                        2. Get them to refinish the messed up rim with the screws and do the rest my self (still left with 2 small curbed rims)
                        3. Say F'^k it and jsut go buy new rims with tires.
If I do one or two I have to buy new tires in the spring but they said they would mount them for me for free as long as I wasn't worried about them scratching them IE hope they don't f up and don't complain if they do. I am almost thinking I should bite the bullet but $$ is flying out the door way faster then I can bring it in :( AND I still need to buy a skid plate and winter tires
Ohh I have pictures of the rim but at the moment I am to lazy to resize them and post them.

My vote goes for option #1

I'm glad that he apologised for the bad work. I've dealt with them before and have been nothing but impressed with the work they've done. But I guess everyone has off days. They just happened to be a bit more off than they should've been giving you that repair back before it was properly done.

I don't understand Brent. Why are you even willing to pay for the other 3 wheels to be "fixed" to look like the one they messed up? They wronged you, acknowledged it, and so they should make it right. With no out of pocket expense to you. Am I right? Or am I misunderstanding you situation here?

As far as I can tell you should also have option #4 - make some heads roll at AWR and do what you gotta do to have them satisfy you as a customer.
