Does any one else have this propblem. It is getting worse now that it is getting colder. Here is what is happening. The door open light keeps comming on. Originaly it only happened with the sunroof or windows opened driving at 60-80 mph. Then it started doing now just normal driving. It tends to happen when I hit a bump in the road now it is ever doing it with slight little veprations in the road.

    Re: faulty trunk sensor

My cold weather quirk is the hatch not wanting to lock when I close it below about -20c. I usually end up slamming the hatch (ouch!) shut to get the switch to realize I've closed the hatch. Could be very similar. Yes?

sounds about the same however mine does't have to be that cold to be affected. It first started in Agust when it was like 80F or hotter now as it gets colder it is becoming more frequent a more easily agitated.

              Re: faulty trunk sensor

I had problem with my front hood sensor, but in completely opposite way (ie, when it's cold, the sensor seems to work fine; when it's getting warmer/hotter, it will keep saying my hood's opened). It's been working fine for a month or so already as the temperature dropped here in BC.

do you think that this is something that the dealer could fix?

                  Re: faulty trunk sensor

There is a micro contact switch in the rear hatch latch that is prone to failure that is more then likely the culprit. I am trying to find the treat about it in the TDIclub as they have a fix for it.

That would be awesome if I could get it fixed myself for cheap. i really don't want to drop the car off at the VW dealer and get it back a day or 2 later and still have the problem or even worse i have to wait for a part to come in and I will be without a car for even longer.
