    Uval,

That sucks dude, Im sorry to hear about what happened.

If you go down to the court and tell them that you dont want the demerits they will knock those off for you. I do that everytime I get a ticket, and Ive gotten quite a few. Its alot better then your insurance going up.

Thanks man, I think I might try. I don't want to "fight" it, I just want to beg them to not give me any demerits. I'm not sure how the whole process works but I guess i'll be finding out soon enough.

just make sure you got a couple hours, it takes a while.

pretty much you stand in a long line at the court, and then finally you get to the front and they ask you if you would like to fight the ticket or pay it. If you choose fight then you get to stand in another line and wait for the justice of the peace, once you get called into their office, you just explain your situation and see what he says. Most of the time they'll give you half fine no demerits, sometimes just no demerits. But just tell the person what happened, and you should be okay. From what I read it wasnt really your fault anyways so you should be fine.

I think Bart posted this a while ago, but he mentioned that this fall they have changed their policy on this and are not as willing to negotiate as before...

That's the thing that worries me. The officer actually said outright I might get a reckless driving ticket ($400 and 4 demerits) instead if I fight it. Agh!

Nah, once the ticket is issued, if you go to the prosecutor I am certain he is NOT able to charge you with a new offence! That is not his job. Imagine if you went to court and the Judge or Prosecutor decided to try you for something different? That would make no sense.

just use points, and forget about it... speaking of points, they're dealing with my tickets today... you'll get a letter in the mail later saying no conviction, no points, and you have to pay about half what the original fine was, all this after giving points 2 and a 1/4.

If you talk to the body shop about the aftermarket parts if it is cheaper than stock parts. Tell them they can keep the extra money from the insurance company when they quote the OEM parts, usually they just want to make money and they might go with that deal.

So I got ahold of these POINTTS people. Totally useless. The guy I spoke to was a complete ass and basically told me not to bother using their services becuse they were expensive. Great business strategy. I'll just go myself and see what can be done. Wish me luck!

P.S. Does anyone know if I have to wait until the actual date written on my ticket or if I can go before?

Bart probably misread the post? You don't use points for a measly ticket like this - you would use points if you got a wreckless driving ticket as that has a massive effect on your insurance. The Points guy was not wrong - why would you pay 250 bucks to have a 180 dollar ticket quashed? Go a few weeks before the court date and beg for no demerits because you have a clean record and will already be raped by insurance for the accident.

That would make sense then. Still, his attitude sucked. But yes, he was saying it would be like 400 or 500 for them to fight it!!!

If I go through one of them, all of the assessment and repairs are done on site and the repair is warrantied by allstate for life. Does anyone have experience with either shop? Or any other advice? Blah.

Horton Auto fixed up my Rx-7 when the back glass was broken, got the car back quickly and they provided a loaner.
If it's the Car Star Collision on 9th Ave. - I'd check your mileage bf taking it in. Between a dealership and them, over 300km went on my car in 3 weeks to paint my door handle when someone tried to steal my 'Lude. No loaner, no ownership to what happened to my car when they had it. I'd never take my car to them for repairs again.

Thanks for the advice but it's a bit late. :( I had GT pick up my car yesterday. I was pretty pissed about no courtesy loaner but they're way closer to me than horton so it was just a matter of location. They seemed pretty open to replacing aftermarket parts if I paid any price diff, at least.
