yeah, this line isn't the most accurate point though . The pressure line from the manifold goes to the n249, then another vaccuum chamber, then it hits the DV...

      Re: Heeeeeeeeeeeeelp with turbo gauge

Only thing I've noticed about the VDO gauge is that it's noisy (ping ping ping)... With the Monsoon cranked I don't even notice it.

I'm pretty impressed, though I will be taking it apart again to replace the fittings with brass fittings from work that use compression sleeves and nuts to seal off.

Now all I need is someone to help me tape the hell out of it so it (LOOKS) better.

Now.. Upsolute... I want that boost gauge to really move!!!!

to fix the ping you need the new T fitting it works well

or simply ditch the POS vdo and get an omori.. thats my plan this winter

After a more extensive test, I've noticed that the guage is REALLY noisy. Definately not an air leak because it pulls to almost 10 psi and levels out around 7 or 7.5... When it moves, it makes noise.... So I'll be looking for a few mechanical guage once I get the rough patches out of the install (ie. brass fittings...)....

The custom one-off shock tower brace goes in on Wed... Ill post picks before and after paint and install....

As Ryan said, you can fix the gauge. Just make sure:

            1. No bends in the tubing
            2. You use the "silent" T fitting
            3. Make sure no leaks

A very tiny leak would not lead to a very noticable pressure less on the gauge...

omori makes noise too if you use a standard T valve.

You have to use their special plastic T, that has a reducer in one end of it to reduce the flow. BUT (of course) when you muck around with your T-valves (as we all do) you'll break the plastic one and resort to a metal one...which will cause the omori gauge to be noisy.

My old autometer was the quietest guage on the face of the planet...too bad it wasn't colormatched!

Here's another tip too...SOME AUTOMETER GAUGES, WHILE SILENT, SUCK BIG TIME. The VDO may be noisy but god I wish I had stuck that into mine....piece of crap autometer. Reads boost fine, vacuum readings are weird. Even tried it out on a friend's car, reads vacuum wacky. Why? I dunno. Sure its silent but inaccurate. (Edit: The possible cause may be my stupid gauge sometimes centers on zero, sometimes not...even when its not and temps, humidity, etc. are same, boost reads fine but vacuum is always off by 2-10 in/hg!)

On topic though, I heard there is a mechanical "silencer" you can fit to the line on a VDO gauge...I know with some Audi kits that use those VDO vision series for the A pillar its included....

Wierd. I've had my VDO boost gauge for about 2 months now and its never even made a peep. Mine peaks at 12.5 and levels around 10 psi, but mt car is a 2004 so it is going to boost a little higher.
