  • little money to spend....

So guys I have found a little money to blow on the car...

I am looking into a hofele or zender spoiler right now so with paint I figure thats gonna run me ~ $300-$400...Where would be the best place to get these spoilers be???? I have a buddy with a shop looking around but he's an accura guy

Anyway I still have about $600 to spend and I am not sure which is the best way to spend this.....I dont wanna start on a body kit, cause i'm an all year driver for now......I am still gonna wait on the chip......so whats left? and WORTH it.

    CAI???
    EXHAUST???
NEW SUSPENSION???? ALREADY LOWERED WITH H&R
    ??????????

uhmm.... Concept one has nice zender wings in stock for jetta iv....

otherwise, go to Apollo Muffler on Macleod Trail... he'll custom build an exhaust for your car however you want.. even let you supply mufflers, cats, etc... around 700 bucks for a complete catback, less if you supply muffs.

Otherwise, take your pick and plug away man.

I have an order for my car, but it's damned expensive....

well you wanted something thats worth it... that takes away CAI, because they're mostly a sound adding device, not much HP is associated with them.

exhaust will add a few HP, you can buy a used catback exhaust in great shape for $500 or under, so thats a definate option. I would add a rear sway bar if it were me, the gains are very noticeable and cost about $300-350 plus install.

i'd also go with a rear sway bar, it'll run ya about $300-350, and can install it yourself. makes a whole lot of difference in handling, takes away a lot of the understeer, even when you're lowered.

and maybe a turbo inlet pipe for $250 @ c1. dunno how much performance it'll make stock, but once you start adding chip and exhaust, it'll help.

If I remember correctly, you are still running H&R sport springs on stock shocks? If so, maybe some Bilstiens or Koni shocks are in order. Otherwise, a CAI + rear sway would be a good addition for the money, and you'd have some change left over

Yep still on stock shocks.....so about this CAI...I hear so many different opinions I'm not sure what to believe.....does do anything other then make noise.....whats a full set of shocks going to run me?? if I can still get another year off the stocks I might just wait.

I am an ENORMOUS CAI proponent, but on the 1.8t your money is better spent elsewhere. The $250 for the unit + $150 for install (these are ass-numbers, bear with me) buys you an UP chip. MUCH better value.

The CAI does sound nifty, but sound doesn't help you whoopass on other cars.

Well, I got my AEM CAI for $165 and installed it myself. $400 for an intake and installation is WAY off It's a really easy intall that can be done by most anyone with basic mechanical know-how. And most intakes come with pretty detailed pictorial instructions to boot

As for the shocks, I believe they run around the $600-700 range. But there are lots of deals to be had if you do your research and shopping carefully.

Yah I was going to suggest new shocks, but you wont find some for under $500, let alone installed. And for CAI's, mine was $100 USD and installed it myself. Alot of guys in the club have installed them so I'm sure they'd give you some help with that if you wanna go that route. But I wont lie to myself, I didnt notice any HP gains as the stock 1.8t intake system is pretty efficient. (but i do like the blow off!)

Blistein shocks were 400 a piece at C1... freakin ouch man.

I'd work on whatever wasnt finished if I had the extra bling... Ie: if you started with the suspension, finish the suspension.. Then you have one project completely done and can move on to the next.

I'd consider the sway bar options... maybe even upper tie bars.

ABD front is 300, rear is 336 and the upper tie bar and lower tie bar set is around 295...

                            Other then I guess "eutuning"

just out of curiosity how does everyone feel about megna flow catbacks
What brands of catbacks are best run on VW's??

One day I'll learn this stuff.....

For catbacks, I personally would research into mufflers that I like the sound of performance of.. You can buy good mufflers at any performance shop. I would then have my exhaust custom built at a muffler shop (Apollo muffler on Macleod S does great work for great pricing)...

You'd be looking at around 500 for a catback exhaust if you supplied your own muffler...
