  • Milling wheel holes???????help

Ok, here's the deal, and I need to know whats up.....I bought those 18's off that guy on here, and I went to see if my lugs would work in them, upon which I found out the holes in the rim that the lug bolts go through are not large enough for the threads, but by very little....So, I could return them, and lose out on a good deal, or is there any other alternative, such as milling the holes larger?????What are my options???

    Thanks in advance!

I think you need to buy different lugs to use with them unfortunately. I remember before I bought my steelies for winter, I looked into getting 17's to roll on, and almost pooed my pants (twice!) when the guy said it would be another $200 for lugs!! You might be able to shop around and find some lugs that will fit for cheaper though. Or does the guy you bought them from have some kicking around?

Whatever you do though, DON'T get rid of the rims!

Yeah, I had to use tuner lugz when I got my Milanos cuz the holes were too small. When I talked to Axis they said that "due to the particular design of the wheel, they had to bore the holes smaller to retain the wheel's structural integrity"

Whatever I guess. The tuner lugz work fine

So these tuner lugz, will they thread into the holes fine?? I mean, with a smaller diameter, won't it not fit in the threads??? He did say he had lugs that came with them, so I may have to track tem down.............oh, and how much are they??

EDIT: looked up tuner lugs, and I see what you guys are saying, the "head" of the tuner lugs are smaller, therefore allowing smaller recesses in the rim.....But I'm talking about the actual "threads" of the bolt won't fit through the hole, but by just a hair!!

So, will these tuner lugs still work, or am I sh*t outta luck???

Yeah see what you can workout with different lugs first, we also have to run Tuner lugs on the Iforged.

So is it the thread of the bolts that won't fit through the hole or is it the head of the bolt. If it's the thread, I don't see how tuner lugs will work. In fact, any thread that fits through that hole won't catch on the threads in the hub. I think you'll have to get the holes bored out if this is the case. I did that for my autox wheels and haven't had a problem. I think you guys have a place called Alberta Wheelworks down there that can do it and should be able to tell you if there will be any problems.

If its just the head, then yeah, tuner lugs.

Yeah, its the threads.....I mean, the head doesn't fit through either so yes I'm gonna have to get these tuner lugs, but I will still have to get these holes bored out.....I'm gonna find a shop and quiz them....

Have you talked to Alberta Wheel repair? I had them repair a rim that looked like someone took a bite out of it. They did an excellent job. I am sure boring your wheel would be a routine task for them.

Anyhow, here is the actual rim, cause nobody knew what they were...

Seems to me I paid around $30 per wheel at Wheel Works here in Edmonton, but I may have got a bit of a deal since I knew someone who knew someone who......

Hey now.............brocks aren't everyones flavor either

They quoted 45/tire because they're mounted, and will need to be remounted and balanced and crap......Not a big deal.....Anyone know a cheap place for tuner lugs, other than Ebay?? or know the thread pitch on our cars?? Also, they are ET42, which will clear fine, but I may get some FK spacers, 8mm fronts and 15 rears, checking it out through AMI
