    always offer low, then there is more room to barter....like you said, 18G, then he can say 20.5G, and you say 19.5......instead of he's asking 21, and you offer him 20, your room for leverage goes down.....Never hurts to offer!

        The dealer wont go that low on a used car tho, they are having no trouble moving VWs (espically cert. used) and will hardly barter..Good luck , let us know how it goes

          Dealer will not go down to much plus you pay GST.

          Private sale you can barter down and NO GST
