Re: 2.0 engine upgrade
The best solution for a 2.0 guy who wants more power is to sell the 2.0L and buy a new car, same year, same kms, with a TDI, 1.8T or VR6. If your 2.0L is in nice condition, on the used market a careful shopper can possibly turn it over and buy a replacement without investing any money at all. Definitely will have to put in less money than a turbo or supercharger.
Next best upgrade in my opinion is to go right to a supercharger. Easy to install, and fairly reliable (if you get one from a reliable company). Yes this will cost money, but its all you can do. If you add up the cost of smaller 2.0L engine mods, you will see that soon they are almost as much.
A turbo 2.0L is a nice thing, they can make better horsepower than a chipped 1.8T if done right. However, I think this will be the least reliable and most expensive option. It will also reduce your resale the most. Only suitable for hardcore enthusiasts (some of us are).KR

Re: 2.0 engine upgrade
Personally, Id go with a supercharger for a 2.0. Like Kor said, the 2.0t's are going to be a pain in the ass reliability-wise. Trading in the car is an option, but your gonna have to take a hit and I would wager its gonna cost you more than buying a s/c and having it installed...Maybe talk to the dealer you got the car from and see if they will cut you some slack? Just a thought...REAL men use harsh language as self-defense

For the supercharger, expect to pay about $3500 plus installation.Last edited by Kor; 09-09-2004, 12:57 PM.KR
