2006 Jetta and Passat spied in California

2006 Jetta and Passat as seen doing high-temperature towing testing in California. They're pretty heavily disguised but you can get the general shape of the car from looking at the pics.

'06 Jetta:


'06 Passat:

The pics don't look right to me.
If the top pic is the MY06 Jetta, it would be a huge jump sizewise. Looks like the car is almost as large the current B5.5 Passat platform. I assume it's running on 15" steelies which make the car look large.....just a thought. At least the wheelbase is comparible to the 2nd pic (MY06 Passat) by just looking at the doors.

Well, one good thing - the MY06 Jetta got the MY04+ Passat side mirror too.

Interesting, they do look quite similar so makes it hard to figure how they will actually look. I think they also look a little Nissan like but it is very hard to tell from the pics and covers. I am happy to see that Jetta tucking steelies though

Hrmm... I am pretty excited about the Passat, but I have already written off the new Jetta in my mind.

I dunno, can't knock it till I see it, but I have a feeling a passat could be my next vechicle..Espically if you can get 4mo 6spd W8 still..Ive got a feeling the new passat's are gonna look badass

If the new Passat's are half as sweet as I'm expecting i will definitely be in for a diesel.

I thought they had already retired the W8?

The new VW's (MkV GTI, Golf, Jetta, and new Passat) as well as the new Audi's just don't do it for me. I guess I fear change or something. I'll probably stick to used Mk3/Mk4/B5.5 cars if I get another VW, or just get something faster for my next car.
