  • Nasty Gas Warning.

Last night I filled up at the PetroCan in McKenzie Towne (at the Macs) and within 10 minutes the car would drop to limp at anything more than light throttle. In general the car ran about as well as my 84 diesel truck.

I thought at first I might have killed another spark plug a la coilpack but I checked those this morning and they were kosher.

After driving around I managed to stuff 10 litres of Mohawk 94 in the tank and shortly after that the car went from chugging to almost normal - I can now pull 15 pounds of boost before it drops to limp.

For those of you down south (I know I'm not the only one) steer clear of the Macs for a few days until they get their tank refilled.

p.s. My GF said she was having some issues with the gas she put in her car this morning. She said it was running really rough, but it's a Hyundai so I thought that was just normal.

I had a problem at this same Petro Can station, had the car towed and examined by SCFC, turned out it was fuel. This was about 10 months ago. Felt like a coilpack or something, but it was water in the gas or bad gas.

It felt like water in the fuel. I had a tank of mostly water in another car a year-ish ago. Unfortunately with my other car it was the dead of winter and the water froze and cracked open a fuel line and my fuel pump. SUPER!

Anyway, I took a look at the parking lot of that gas station tonight and it looks as though the drainage on the lot looks like it drains toward the fill holes.

It really ticks me off to pay almost 90 cents per liter for freakin water.. Oh... Wait.. A bottle of Evian is almost double that.

I was in need of gas last night but I opted for Petro 7-11 in Douglas Glen, however I do fill up there often, perhaps not anymore though. Thanks for the heads up!!

Another strike against the station in question.

I heard my neighbours lawn mower sputter and die while he was mowing his lawn. He just filled up from the McKT petrocan and now he can't get the thing to stay running.

Stay away from the Petro Can's in the area.

I ahve had problems with their gas in McKenzie towne as well. I always get poor mileage whenever I fill up there. I have been using the Esso station across deerfoot in McKenzie Lake, and have had zero problems. I have also used the Shell in McKenzie Lake with no problems. I figure with all the BMWs, Audis etc in McKenzie Lake they must move plenty of premium so it is never stale.
