Anybody ever use.....

.... Those glass chip repair stands you see set up in grocery/mall parking lots all over the city? You know, the ones with the yellow tents where you just pull up and the fix your shiz. Are they any good? I'm too lazy to drive to a glass shop and there's one of those fix-on-the-spot places really close by.

You could always call one of those places that comes to your work to fill 'em. I have no luck with rock chips however, if I get one, its a crack, not a chip, so I've never had to go to one of these places. Ive had my car for 5 weeks and Ive got a huge crack in the windshield + the rock that did it dented my hood. HOORAH!

yea homie.. buddy in crowfoot filled mine last fall.. worked great but i had my car outside and it froze that night and the glue like 'showed' i guess .. oh well

I just had one of my little chips fixed a few weeks ago. Worked great - I'd say it's a 70% reduction. 20 bucks for the first chip, 10 for any additional ones.

umm.. depending on how bad it is neil but i would stop by the safeway in crowfoot he's been there for a while and ask..can't hurt..

i learned some stuff: DONT BOTHER WITH 3M or FILLING ROCK CHIPS. in the end, you will still have to paint your hood, and replace your windshield. they're just gimmicks.

Got some evidence to back dat up? Im pretty happy with my 3m I gotta say because your car will look like sh!t until you DO get it repainted while I could pull of the 3m and have unscathed paint. Doesnt really seem like a gimmick to me

wrong. 3m has saved my ass. and getting a little strip of plastic put pack on is always cheaper than repainting.

and getting rock chips filled prevents them from becoming huge cracks, has worked for me on more than one occaision. 20 bucks to get a chip filled is cheaper than a windsheild.

My problem is that my 3M looks like crap now (old), and if I peel it off I am worried that it will look bad underneath. So I am screwed...

Yeah, the whole 3M gaurd vs. repsray is quite debatable. I think I'll give the chip-fix folks a try. I don't wanna lose points this weekend for a messy looking windshield.

actual 3m brand stuff is total crap (yellows after time) the new avery stuff is quite kickass though. slightly less visible, and doesn't yellow
