  • Re-dyno.

I put the GTI on the dyno again on Saturday as I wanted to see if there was a difference after putting the colder plugs, the 4 bar FPR, and after a little time to adapt to the Revo programming.

    Previously I got 177 HP and 222 ft-lbs on a low 70 degree f day on Saturday it put down 183 HP and 232 ft-lbs on a 90 degree f day.

The engine still gets mighty ticked off at around 4700 RPM when AF ratios drop below 12:1 and fall completely off the scale at 5500 RPM. Once that happens torque drops like a stone. I am going to assume that temps are getting out of line and the ECU is just puking fuel in to cool things down.

One odd thing though - power stays pretty consistant right up to 7,100 RPM - only dropping about 20 between 5,500 and 7,100 which makes me wonder how badly my stock exhaust is choking things.

I buggered up the disc with the runs on them, so buddy is sending me new data. Will post graphs when I get them.

    Mustang or dynojet?

    Also, ko3 or ko3s?

Dynojet 248c. I have an 03 GTI, so it would be a k03s.

The place I dynoed at had a k04 in a number of pieces in their showroom. Buddy is going to see what model it is and if it is one of the useful ones he'll sell it to me for a hundred bucks.

Who sells VW goodies in Edmonton anyway? This guy had no idea, and me from Calgary had no clue either.

I'd ask Dale/Holks for places in edmonton. Those are some good dyno# 's with a stock exhaust. Get a 2.5" turboback and watch those #'s jump up 10.

That drop in the AF ratio at higher RPMs could be a sign of your MAF going. That's what mine was doing, only it was at more like 4K.

I think the drop in A/F is more a sign of combustion hiccups. I had a similar AF the first time I dyno'd, relatively stock, at 6000 kms (see graph, the blue line). The second dyno was at 22,000 km's (red line). In the mean time I have seen no change in mileage, quality and consistancy of power delivery or general engine oddities.
