  • Boost gauge help

    Hey everyone,

Im going in today to get APR'd and I thought I should get a boost gauge as well. Im going to buy the VDO set, but concept 1 said they would not install it for me since I have side airbags. I know nothing about installation of these, but I was wondering if someone could teach me? I would appreciate any help.

    Thanx

Just getting the clip off is a pain - and putting it back. Any of us that's done it should be able to help you get it off - but its really hard to describe. You can try looking at the pictures on Vortex but they didn't help me.

Or, if you dont want to take the chance of getting smoked in the face with a pod when your airbag goes off, you can do a steering wheel mount one.. ECStuning has them for sure but Ive seen em around all over the place.. I ordered one and (for the pod - gauge not included) it was $25usd + shipping (I think it was $43 total)....something to think about anyways.

Sigh - the airbags deploy nowhere near the pod, we go over this every few months.

I agree, its stupid that anyone considers the pods unsafe on the pillar....As soon as you install one you can see the airbag does not come near the lower half of the pod, let alone have the pillar trim come off when it deploys...Its got a crease put in it to fold out of the way......Nice pics!

What's funnier is usually the guys I argue with about this on Vortex have these huge wooden sub boxes in the back, or like to carry their golf clubs in the back seat. Or that tard that glued a metal emblem to the airbag cover... crazy stuff.

Ryan you are soo soo right! Ken set me up with a 91/93/stock program, and i love it! The chip is a friggen awsome mod, I dont know how I drove without it before. Its almost like Im driving a new car, it just pulls so nice and well all the way through the rpm range, I find that at 190 it starts pulling a little slower but up till then its so quick and smooth. I think it may just start laggin a bit because the rest of my car is stock, so I guess after I get other stuff into my car Ill see the true and full potential of this chip.

Man o Man does she go!

Well Concept1 was out of boost gauges, the one that I needed anyways with the vac and the boost, so I have to wait about a week before I can pick one up now but I guess we'll see what happens.

BTW For all you guys thinking about getting APR, its friggen worth it!
