Just wondering how long you guys usually let your cars idle after driving? I guess this question is more for the turbo guys than anyone else.

How long do you guys/gals cool down the car?

After "normal" city driving I don't bother much. I figure the one to two minute trip through the side streets to my house is sufficient.
After an AutoX run or track session, I'll let it run a couple of minutes while I take off my helmet, etc.
The only problem with this is you might forget to put it in gear after you turn it off, and then when the brakes cool, the e-brake doesn't quite hold tight and then if you are parked on a slight incline, your car may coast downhill, lightly bump someone's wheel trailer and get hung up on the hitch. (Not that it has happened to me )Pat

well, me, about 5 mins. i notice that blasting the heat helps cool it down faster, as it takes it away from the engine.
my tdi when its at 90, and idling with full heat on 4 starts to make the temp drop, to like 40 degrees, lol, this after about 10 mins, now thats efficiency.2002 VW Golf GT TDI

From what I've gathered the turbos of today do not require a cooling down period unless you've been driving really hard and of course, how else would you drive.
