Sounds like a very good plan. I think CFCN always has some kind of show that helps people that are getting the runaround. Perhaps if you knew the name of a specific Report (in the Herald, or CFCN, etc.) that may help in showing your serious (I will be forced to take this to the Herald's Blah Blah section). Just a thought. It's a flashy car that will stand out nicely in the report too.

          Wow... your ignorance is shocking.

For starters, the people building the roads you drive on most of the time are contractors, and not city employees.

Secondly, the City does a few more things that just roads. Parks, Insect Control, Taxes, Transportation, etc, etc, etc. Just because you see a few workers on the side of the road doesn't mean that thousands upon thousands of people don't do anything.

So I call ******** on you.

I'd love to work for the city... and would apply if the right position came up. Sure some city workers take advantage of it... but I also know others who work very hard. Saying all of them dont work is just stupid. Plus, like Bill already said.... their construction work is mostly sub-contracted out anyhow.

bill i'm sure when you first hit the pothole, you felt as if you wanted to burn the city down, i'm only guessing, because thats how i felt when i smoked that rock a year ago, my car literally took off.

in any case, you were probably pissed off. thats what the city does though, they stall you, and as time goes by, you start caring less and less. but i have not forgotten and wont, if they dont pay me, i will get my money back another way, this way i wont be sharing with any of you, not on here anyway

                  Re: Killer Pot Holes

Yeah, the effing signs they put up all over the place saying the contractors name doesnt give it away that they are contracted out eh?

Im a contractor at my work.I know the role of a contractor. I dont say "im a contractor who is contracted to FGL" I say "I work for FGL" . When you sign a contract with a company, you work for them wether its just for cutting an effing lawn or working a 5 year road construction contract they are working FOR the city which uses OUR tax dollars to pay for their services so when they slack off at work, who is to blame? The city for wasting tax money, and the contractors for being shitty workers.

While on the topic, lets examine parlament. A friend of mine works on parlament hill for a senator. she gets friday afternoon and all of monday off every week because the senator plays golf or skis on fridays and likes monday's off. We're paying both of their salaries. While I know this doesnt happen for every member of senate, Id say a shocking number of them operate like this.

Moral of the story: City workers (or contractors as the case may be ) are overpaid and underworked.

                    Re: Killer Pot Holes

Please keep this discussion civil and based upon the topic at hand.

Everyone has opinions and probably suffers some grief because of road construction, however that does not mean we should make generalizations about certain groups of people. I have been seeing the Bow River Bridge Construction sign change everyday this week and still no work has started. We are not privey to all the facts so it is unfair to assume that we know why things occur. Lets just try and help Bill and prevent poor quality road work from damaging anyone elses car.

Yeah, the roads suck, and I hate construction as much as anyone....But I'll put it in the terms that a patient of mine did....He was from britain, here on vacation, and he told me he was shocked at how fast the road construction here is done, over there he said that it takes months to get the roads done, and here they fast track alot of it....And its true, aside from a few bumbling projects, they usually have the road milled down and repaved within a week, which is quick!

It's actually spelled Parliament... with an I. One of my families close friends has a head management position with the CCRA in Ottawa. Sure he isn't the hardest worker..... but he could also get paid more if he worked for a private company. The Government pay above average in lower skilled areas, and below average in higher skilled areas. This is only a rule of thumb..... but is usually true. I'm not defending their work ethics entirely, but I'm just saying that there's more to it than meets the eye. Government is Bureaucratic... it's a fact of life.
