OK, as many of you know, I've been waiting for a set of Axis Milanos for quite some time now. My plan was to run a staggared fitment with 19x8.5 in the front, and 19x9.5 in the rear. Well, Axis doesn't actually manufacture 19x9.5 with the 5x100 bolt pattern. SO, after talking with some higher-ups at Axis some time ago, they agreed to custom make a set of 19x9.5's in our bolt pattern and offset. I would be the first (and only) Mk4 in North America to run these.... So I'm thinking alright, cool
The catch is that since these wheels don't exist, Axis has to have their plant in Asia custom make a set. Which, of course, will take much longer to do. I was told that they would arrive in 3-4 weeks. In that time, I recieved my 2 front wheels (19x8.5) since these are a relatively common size and Axis had them in stock. Before I know it, the deadline for my rear wheels arrives and they have not shown up. I follow up with Axis and they tell my to wait 2 more weeks. Again, the deadline goes by and the wheels are nowhere to be found. Now a little concerned, I contact Axis again and they tell me the wheels are further delayed for 2 reasons....
1) Their plant cannot keep up with the demand for their wheels and they are severly behind in production
2) The container that my wheels were supposed to be in were not delivered to the shipping port in time for the boat's departure.
So I'm thinking, "this really sucks", but things happen and since Axis has been fairly accomodating up to this point I decide to wait some more. They tell me that the wheels will FOR SURE be on the next shipment from overseas and they should arrive in California around mid May. So I followed up today and they tell me that the wheels did not make it on the shipment..... again.
They then tell me that the next shipment doesn't sail until June 2 and then it will take 3 weeks to arrive. Then another 10 days or so to get to Calgary. Basically adding another month of waiting.
So here we are, after 3 months of waiting and another potential month on top of that, I decided to say screw it to the staggared setup. I went ahead and cancelled my order and told them I just wanted 19x8.5's in the rears. It would have been sweet to have that setup but the constant delays and headaches just made it not worth it. Now I'm crossing my fingers that the wheels will arrive before FFH... which I actually doubt.
So here's a big-assed thumbs down to Axis for poor customer service, communication, inventory management, distribution channel management, and ability to do good on their promises
