  • ATP Stage 2 & K04

    Ok Im planning a new turbo upgrade project in a few months and was just trying to get some info. Well all ya know my tiptronic cant handle any insane stage kits but I want to push my car to the limits =)

    Thoughts:

    1) ATP Stage 2 Garrett/Honeywell GT25/T28 turbocharger
    2) K04 turbo

    I want something that will hit around 220-240 whp and around 280wtq.

    I was thinking about going ATP stage 2 but I also want something I can drive during winter too. With a k04 are these turbo's reliable enough?

    i wouldn't say the HP will kill the tranny as bad as the TQ..
    seriously mikey since your car isn't that far along.. take the parts off and trade it in for a new GLI..
    i almost farking traded mine the other day for one but realized i have to much put in and its past a GLI in my mind for me to trade it.. plus i have a special summer mod

      Im totally thinking about it. Im really contemplating putting in a K04 if I can get one for cheap to feel around with. Its a direct bolt on and Simon can hopefully update my program for some silly boost levels =)

        nah.. 6spd, recaros.. thats all you need i'm sure simon can unchip/rechip the new car

          K04 sounded like a good idea to me at one time. But hearing more bad than good turned me off the idea.

          My setup has been good so far. Winter driveing is not a problem (Easier than a chipped k03) better gas mileage as well. A newer garrett is probably more reliable than an over stressed k-series. The vortex is filled with tales of expodeing ko4's.

          Gotta agree with Ryan here.Chipped k04 might have more torque a lot sooner than a st2, but do you really want that with a tip.? Better to sell/trade into a standard, and strip the tip back to stock. I'll take that rusty old cai off your hands ,BTW.

            you wont notice that much of a diff from a kO3sport to kO4 to be worthwhile.

              Very true my brotha's. If I were to go ATP Stage 2 what would I need to get the car going?

                from what I've heard, not a whole lot.

                talk to chad in length about it for a more detailed discussion though. but from what I can remember he's still running basically stock everything else, just upgraded exhaust. and if upsolute makes a chip for you for it, you're even more gold.

                  So the atp stage 2 turbo is just a bolt on?

                      Well it looks like I might be going K04. Im a little worried that the stage 2 ATP kit will kill my car.

                        How would stg 2 kill your car?

                        And the boys speak the truth. Stg 2 on an otherwise stock car and you should see 230-250 hp. You dont really need anything else. The kit comes with software (not the best, but it works), oil lines, downpipe, adj. fuel pressure reg., TIP, and all the bits & pieces to fit it.

                        It is NOT a bolt on per say. I didnt install mine, but rather took the cowards route, and paid C1 to do it. More difficult to install than a k04, but worth it.

                        If I were you Qua, I would keep the k03s or go stg2.
