  • Looking for Spreader tool

Does anyone in the club have a VW front strut spreader tool that we could borrow for a weekend? A couple of us are looking at doing suspension installs next weekend, and this would make like easier for some of your fellow members.

I have a bead on a couple for sale online, but I dont know if they would be here in time for next weekend.

    It looks like this http://www.metalnerd.com/cartimages/mn3424.jpg

    Thanks,

    Andrew

I used a flat screwdriver bit in a socket...worked OK for me.

I tried that, it kept slipping out on me so I used a hex key on a socket and it worked. The problem is some aftermarket suspensions have a little bit of a larger diameter.

          Re: Looking for Spreader tool

So I decided, screw it. Since I am just installing the springs at this time, and I will have to change the shocks when they wear out, I went ahead and bought 2 strut spreader tools from some guy in Surrey. They should be here before the spring install day.

Hopefully every else gets their parts in time, and we can go ahead next weekend.
