Re: TDI intake anyone?
I was trying to get ordering info on these but I havent got a reply yet. I do want one though, I was trying to see if he would set me up as a distributor but I want one anyway.
The smoke on a chipped car varies a little but the car in that video has a whole lot more than just a chip. You can get a bit or totally emliminate smoke on most chipped cars by changing the IQ setting with Vag Com, default setting is usually fine. That being said, this pipe obviously helps get air into our engine and that is never bad thing.

I got a reply eventually... and it looks like demand is too high for us to get a group deal without having a long wait. I have ordered one, they dont look too hard to have someone make them locally

Re: TDI intake anyone?
I have been running the TDi turbo intake for a while now and have the following physical observations:
Bad mounting brackets - one is cracked already, no stress/vibration relief is provided
Bad Crankase vent allowance - the longest job of the install was not to keep pushing the rubber O ring into the pipe. Lets just imagine for a while what would happen if it were to come loose again..nothing but suction between it and your valuable turbo wheel!
Very bad attatchment to the Turbo inlet - The metal pipe has no reducer in it and a cheap right angle flex hose is used at the bottom that also doesnt reduce the diameter. The way they do it is to slip some thick hose over the turbo inlet then clamp the 90 degree hose over that. With all that rubber, as you try to tighten the clamp, it deforms the rubber in a way that it just wants to slide off. The metal of the turbo inlet is not long enough to do this method with any safety margin. If you try to put the clamp closer to the end of the pipe it compresses it at the end so the clamp just wants to slip off instead.
Very bad flow discontinuity at turbo entrance - the huge step change in cross sectional area of the inlet pipe at the crude reducer is very bad for airflow.
I have an engineering firm who know alot about air flow looking at this and they are convinced that a much better solution can be made for similar money. I am not sure what they laughed at more, the stock pipe or the oldman version I will need to do a batch of 10 to get it at this cost though.
I paid for the intake a few months ago and it came up as $181 CAD on my credit card including shipping but not any other import/tax costs. The exchange has moved a little bit since then.
I am going to be able to produce a good turbo inlet pipe for $195 provided that I can get 10 made. If I can get enough interested with some deposits, I will give my car up for the development of this. So please, get your name down ASAP.
