    New Daily Driver 2016 VW GTI Autobahn

    Well seems like we don't keep cars long. Traded in the 2015 Tiguan today for a 2016 GTI Autobahn DSG. This one comes with the tech package but no performance pack. Deal was pretty good. Got a 6 year warranty and coverage which is good for what we need. Got the 3M on the front and full hood.

    It is my wife's daily driver. We've never had a car of this trim level. The tiguan was nice but this GTI is night and day difference. Has fender audio system and navigation, with all the neat lights that glow and stuff lol.

    DSG was accually my call...I thing the DSG is the best tranny on the market right now. I love my 01e (as much as one can love one) and shifting my own gears, but dsg is so almost perfect. Plus wife will drive it most of the time.


    Overall I'm very happy. Wife is worried a bit about winter and not having AWD. This is also our first FWD car. Should save money on gas and that will be nice.

      Thanks, they had white,black,red, and this blue. Wife said the red looked too girly and white and black were off the table. Made them drive across the city to there storage lot for this one lol. Last blue 2016 in Edmonton as far as I know with the packages we got.

          You won't have any troubles in the winter with the fwd as long as you have some winter tires. My old gti was amazing in the winter, made a lot of trucks and other awd vehicles look silly on the snow and ice

              Fwd or Awd you probably won't notice the difference with winter tires, especially with the new MK7 XDS+system.

                I'm going to have to just get winter tires and not tell the wife. she does not want to spend money on tires lol. I told her the difference it will make and hell I run winters on my S4 in the winter. she thinks she will get stuck.

                        It's not whether it's better or not, but rather how much better, and do you *have* to have it to not get stuck in winter. Too much hype about AWD without facts.

                            Huh? Not sure how any of these articles are relevant to the point that T-dubbs made which is:
                            AWD + Winter Tires > FWD + Winter Tires

                            I'm confused... unless you're talking about handling and/or stopping in winter which doesn't have much to do with what wheels are being driven.

                            Anyhow, to the OP... get some winters on it and yes, you'll be glad you did. Save yourself from a single fender bender and they've paid for themselves. Just don't be challenging any AWDs with Winters to a drag race...!

                              made it through the first tank of fuel. got 7.9l/100km. not to bad I'm guessing.
