Anyone changed the (possible) xenons in b5.5 Passat?

Hey all,

Looking to do some pre winter maintenance on my Passat W8, and while driving a couple weeks ago I noticed my passenger side low beam / DRL is burned out. Anyone done a replacement on one of these and have any tips? It looks like from what I can tell that the entire front bumper will have to come off, which is super sad, but I gotta change out that bulb! if anyone has any tips or tricks I'd love to hear them, or if you know of someone who will do them for a decent price in Calgary, let me know that too!

Hope you don't have to pull the bumper! If so, all the large top torx head fasteners were a pain on my bumper. The nuts on the other end are seated to a plastic braket and they tend to want to spin in place. The top two, I couldn't get out without some force. I pretty much spun them until the nut melted it's way out of the braket. There was no way to reach the nut with a tool (as you shouldn't have to hold the nut... they are fixed in plastic). The ones that you get to after removing the grill, I could at least get pliers on the nuts to stop them from breaking free of their plastic mount. Other than that nuisance, the bumper comes off pretty easily.

Also, look up how the grille clips in so you can remove it without braking clips!

Yeah I'm still having looks around online, but thanks for the info! I'm annoyed and sad :( haha
