Spray straight on, just clean the caliper of dirt and loose paint, put a white dip coat on if you want the colour to pop more.

How many coats for each? might have to give this a shot!

I'd say two light coat, and 4 medium heaviness coat, and then after that you can stop if the color is good, don't make it too thin like two coats because I've seen people on the internet spray too thin and it burns off or something, but if you have enough coats on there about the same amount as I stated you should have no problems. The longest set of callipers I have dipped has been there for almost 3 years and still looks very good.
