So most of you don't know, but my turbo blew about 2 weeks ago today. I picked my car up yesterday, it runs great. The bearing in the turbo went and forced oil into my engine through the intake, which hydrolocked the engine and bent some rods, so the engine was rebuilt, with all new internals and new turbo. I think the total cost was between $4-5k. But this was warranty of course, because what happened was no fault of mine.
Basically I was driving along in first gear, with 75% throttle and i hear a clunk type sound, car doesn't accelerate, boost is 0psi, rpms goto 1500rpm, no higher, no less, then it starts accelerating, but very very very slow, more clunk, tons of smoke coming out my exhaust, car dies, roll to stop, tow to dealership, wait 2 weeks, good as new, literally...
My car was serviced by 'kevin' at northland. I would like to thank him for his superb workmanship and the dealership. Highly recommend!!! I stopped by almost everyday, he took the time to show me what was going on, what happened, etc.
Some pics of the tdi while it was waiting for parts:
