Mk6 Golf - R - Timing Belt Replacement Intervals (CRZA EA113)

Hi guys

Anyone replaced their TB on their Mk6 Golf R yet? (yes it has a TB not Chain).

Odometer on mine, is at 115k km. I've read that they are to be inspected every 40k miles per this American maintenance schedule, but nothing definitive to replacement. https://app.box.com/s/052oygxw1li63c30vuwc

Lots of other forum chat out there, with replacement to occur from as early as 60k miles to 115k miles.

I did book in with CAW for later this month. (thank Colin).

Not sure about the R but I know with all my VAG cars I never go over 100k on a belt. I always try to book it in between 80k and 90k just to be on the safe side.

I would have it done now. 80-100 k kms seems to be the norm here

I would assume it is around what Danaldson said. 80-100k km or so. I checked on generic service information (Non VW Service Program) and I could not find a service interval for your vehicle. I also looked up a MK6 GTI and couldn't find an interval for that either. Generic service info is usually bad for having any info on German vehicles. But yeah that said I would get yours done.

The MK6 GTI is the TSI, so it is a chain engine, there is no service interval for it.

Because the GTI is a TSI, there is no information for the R, it seems that everyone assumes that it is a TSI when in reality it is more similar to the MK5 BPY from GTI/GLI.
