Hi All,
My sister's 2006 MK5 TDI is occasionally throwing error code P0101 relating to the MAF. I've started with easy stuff. I cleaned the MAF with some MAF cleaner, checked the air filter, did a pretty quick check for leaks on the easy to get at portions of the intake. All I found so far was that the air hose was pretty loose at the intake side of the turbo, so I tightened that up and cleared the code today. I don't know if it would have been significant enough to be the issue though.
I'm reading that there are several things that can cause the code including a bad MAF, clogged intake and worn cam lobes.
So far we are not noticing any drastic performance issues.
Any thoughts or experience with this? Also, can I pop off the valve cover and check out the cam lobes without needing a new valve cover gasket?
I'm not really sure what the logical next step is. I don't want to start replacing parts without a good reason.
Thanks!
