What problems will this pose for my car? And by removing I mean taking it right out and welding in a short pup peice of pipe in its place leaving the stock locations for O2 sensors...

you'll wear the clutch out from the extreme power increase.

seriously, nothing big. You'll get a MIL with a DTC that says "catalyst below effiecency" well duh...

You will also have that stinky smell of "un-cat" exhaust.

I have lots of backfires with stock dp and stock cat. It's because I run so rich.

I think the adverse effects from running no cat are going to be the slightly increased sound and horrible smell.

Its likely a boost leak. You should try to get it fixed, since your turbo may be working extra hard to make what boost you're getting now, and that may reduce its life.

We can guess that its not a boost control problem since you replaced both the DV and N75.

If your exhaust was really plugged up or something, I think it would manifest differently than what you've described.

yea kris we think his cat is pooched.. whenever i scanned his car he kept throwing a cat under effiency code.. and dale ran into blake from NL and he said thats more than likely the cause.

                    Re: Removing the CAT

Have you thought about replacing the O2 sensors? I had one of mine fail on me, with similar symptoms last summer...

If you're getting that cat code, then maybe there's an exhaust leak somewhere? That would do it too...

And when I say you'll have backfires and stink with no cat... its no so much that i mean backfires as I mean flames coming out of your tailpipes because of all the unburned fuel.
