  • Finally Revo'd!!

Woohoo! I'm up in Edmonton right now on work and decided to get chipped yesterday. Very nice. I ended up getting the 4bar program w/ SPS3. The car pulls and just keeps pulling now. I'm always hitting redline before I even realise it! Boost peaks at 20-21 and slowly tapers back to 10 at redline.

Lee at Matrix was great. I had to do some work stuff during the day so he stayed late to get me setup which was very much appreciated.

BTW, Lee and the guys from Matrix are gonna have a booth at the V8less show in May. So, anyone who wants to try out the trial or make a purchase can go and see them down there during the show. Lee also said that he could possibly make a trip down to one of our meetings to set people up with the trial if there is enough interest.

    Now for exhaust and TIP.

I think interest is def. there....I was waiting till someone was revo'd for a good review of is it really worth it? So.....is it?? What was the final damage in $$? You know I now need a ride in your car to make up my mind, so come on down! I would opt for the 3 bar though......Anyhow, great to hear!! Nice boost numbers!!

Peaks or spikes? Really, in my opinion running 21 psi is not safe for daily use. I try to tune my MBC to stay below 19...

Final damage was $608 for the ECU flash, $107.52 for the 4bar program and FPR, $423 for the SPS3, plus tax. I basically got the works (I got a pretty good tax return and it was burnin a whole in my pocket ). You can definately go cheaper if you want. The ECU burn w/ SPS2 would have been my choice otherwise.

I'm spiking at 21 and it holds til about 3500-4000 where it slowly tapers back to 10 at redline. I have a feeling that once the ECU adapts, I will see lower spikes. I actually try not to push it to 21 while driving around. I do notice that throttle control is more tricky because it wants to get on the boost sooner and much higher now than it did before. This is sort of the reason I kept hitting redline when I first got it.

Ryan, you're in the hood. You should stop by one day and we can go for a spin. (Alex, I take you out too sometime if you want.)

One thing I've started to notice now that I've been driving it and trying to get to know it better is that I get a bit of surging at part throttle around the 7-10 psi neigbourhood. I'm not exactly sure that it is surging as I've never exprienced surging first hand, but the best way I can describe it is by calling it a "slight worrble". The boost gauge shows boost flucuating a few psi somewhere in the 7-10 psi range. Someone explained surging as more of a violent event and what I'm experiencing is not violent at all. Anyone have any ideas?

Have you run with your cruise control yet?

When I was driving back down from Edmonton I would set the cruise on and the boost would fluctuate +/- 2 PSI while cruising. The car would surge and slow ever so slightly while driving. I'm not certain what the reason for that would be, but I have a couple of notions.

Yeah, I set the cruise most of the way home. I noticed the boost fluctuate as well, but the speedometer was dead steady at the set speed and I didn't feel any sort of surging. I think that boost was compensating for the slight variations in load from wind, pavement, level (uphill vs downhill vs flat), etc. I'm gonna try playing with the SPS3 module soon. I've read that people have set their timing to 4 or 5 with good results. If that doesn't work, I might try switching back to my stock N75.

Yah the boost does fluctuate when going up hill and downhill, on the highway mine will go from 1-5psi going up hills. But on a flat surface, it shouldnt move at all. And surging for me was it would hit 15 psi, go back down to 10, then back up to 15 etc, and felt jerky. I dunno maybe yours is just a *little* surging, or maybe something completely different.

Hehe, we should have a club SPS3! Use whenever! Anyhow, about the surging with cruise control, mine does it all the time, and I hate it, I can feel it alot! I have alot of free time, so just mention when I can ride! I'm tall enough!

Just give me a shout if you wanna use the SPS3 module.

Well, I tried changing the timing to 5 and it worked! So far. I'm still not sure why it should work, but it seemed to smooth things out for some reason.

Alex, you live in Cochrane don't you?

Have you changed your plugs? I'm makin a trip to Canadian Tire tonight to get some colder ones as I think the computer is backing off the power at high RPM's due to knock, cyl. temps, whatever.

I'm still pinning my 20 psi boost gauge and i've got 1,000 km on the chip.

Hmmm. I haven't changed my plugs. Interesting thought though. Let me know how it works out.

Have you tried vagcom logging block 120?
