Gas mileage??

Well I got the new wheels and lowering springs on and really dig the ride, however I have noticed a rather significant drop in the gas mileage, does this seem abnormal. I went from stock too 19's and h&r lowering springs. I never did get an alingment, was told i didn't need one......? now I wonder

The alignment is definitely a good idea. As for the decrease in gas mileage, that's a normal result of plus sizing your wheels and tires. What kind of numbers are we talking abuot here? I found that with my stock 15's, I get about 520km on a tank before the light comes on. After 19's, I got about 480kms before the light.

Yes, definately get an aligment. You'll notice your tires wear unevenly if you don't. Take a look at my Brocks, the insides are bald!!

I think it all depends if you drop the subframe. There really is no points that can change other then the top cup and the way it sits but there is no agustment there anyways. I didn't drop the sub when I did mine and I got an alignment when I put my winters on and it was dead on.
Edit: I guess if you did a large drop you would have to adjust the camber and I think that is done by the lower ball joint mount so that could need adjustment.

I definitely need an alignment, after putting on 19's it is noticable. I am also getting worse fuel economy, and less power too - but who cares, I get to see people's faces when they see my car!

Nice Kris thats what it is all about!!

I did have to get an alignment on my car, but I did drop it close to 3 inches and MK3s have a bit more adjustability. I have not noticed any difference in fuel economy but I am sure that will change when the 17s go on.

mine has stayed the same going from my 17s to 18s

If your 17's are pretty much as wide as your 18s you won't notice much of a change - it's the total contact patch of the tires that makes the difference. You can reduce it a bit by keeping your tires at a bit higher PSI. I notice it cause it's 6.5 to 8.5 width and a huge difference in weight. :(

I haven't yet run a tank through, but the drive from calgary to red deer sucked back half a tank which is not normal.... I feel a small shimmy @ about 100km, so do believe an alignment and possibly a balance is in order.... Sure enjoying the compliments on the car so far though

You also use more gas when you use your AC, could have been driving into the wind too.
