  • Build Suggestions?

    Hello,

Due to my car just hitting 240000km I'm debating on selling the car or turning into a fun project until it dies lol. if anyone could give me suggestion on what to due to the build that would be helpful! I'm thinking about swapping the seats for racing seats w/ harness' and stripping the rear seats as well as welding the rear doors shut lol. or I just swap a new motor any thoughts?
    Thanks.

7500 plus value of the car? personally i would sell to change things up. if not, rebuild the motor and do a budget turbo build?

Personally, I'd swap a motor with lesser kms so it'll run forever. Then whatever is left for suspension and wheels.

yea I was thinking about selling to pickup a GLI, but I kinda want to rebuild the motor and boost it if I kept it for a second car, I do want to bag this and get new wheels and tires as well

You are going to blow your budget VERY quickly if you go turbo.

Have the timing chains been done on the car?

going to be honest i have no idea, I'm getting "D" Service at tunedub next week to see and I'm getting everything inspected. The guy i bought it from lied through his teeth about the car to me and hopefully i don't end up with a lemon. i had inspection done that came up good but it didn't cover everything. for example the guy i bought it from told me it was adjustable coilovers, so i bent down and looked at them and they are eBay lowering springs on stock struts. its just was a crappy deal to begin with, which was my fault.

i want to sell the car for anything just so i can get something with less km and not have to worry about it in the back of my head overtime i drive. i have had no problems with it aside from cold start issues sometimes, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the car is fine, but at the end of the day i have no idea.

does any have a recommendation for coil overs and/or air suspension? I'm in the process of picking up a new euro and what to start planning out a build lol

You seem pretty eager and excited to start modding.
I would recommend making your vehicle 100% reliable before starting to change stuff because a lot of the time aftermarket products can accentuate smaller problems, turning them into larger problems in a hurry due to increased wear and stress put on the parts.
See how the inspection comes back and if the list isn't too bad to work with you can fix the car, if not ditch it for something else that you like and could see yourself modifying. However do your research no matter which option you choose to go with
