  • MK7 Golf TSi Low Speed Acceleration Wobble/Vibration

Recently purchased a brand new TSi, and right after I picked it up and drove it of the dealers lot less than 20km in, I noticed a side to side vibration on acceleration from 1st to 2nd gear. Approximately around the 15 to 25 Km mark. I called the dealer right away the following day and reported it. Wow, I was totally disappointed. Brand new car and it is already broken. Didn't even get to enjoy the so called brand-new feeling or excitement.

I was told that they never heard of such issue from other owners and its the first they heard of it. I truly don't believe that this is an isolated case. They called me in a later time and told me it was the axel issue.

Just wondering if anyone have the same issue or maybe haven't noticed it yet? I would like to hear from you folks.

While I haven't heard of this issue before I did find this on Vortex...

Axle issue? Sounded like a wheel misalignment to me. Yikes.

"Under acceleration" is the key here I believe Cpt. Slow.

I had to look up what 'acceleration' meant. That's new vocabulary for me.

According to that thread it seems to be due to a Chinese Manufacturer axle manufacturing defect, it seems they use an OEM jetta axle replacement from another manufacturer to solve the problem.

Thanks Rod for the thread! It was very insightful.

The dealer did fix the axel of my car and the vibration did went away, but just wondering what others did get if any, compensation for the lost time, hassle, emotional disappointment, etc... ?? God only knows what else is wrong with this Mexican build Golf.

Jay1974 in that other thread seem to be able to get his upgrade to GTI, and if I understand it right, without any financial lost. His monthly went up but other than that he is now very happy. I was thinking of doing the same thing going up to a GTI model, but since my dealer mentioned I will be taking a bit of a lost on the trade in value, I asked them to compensate me with some upgrades to my current car. I am still waiting on their decision, but just wondering if anyone else local had this experience and what sort of compensations have they gotten.

I can believe that VW Canada are still selling these cars without any recalls, even with them knowing that this problem already exist since early last year!!!

This is why I avoid Chinese parts at all costs. I can't believe VW is putting defective chinese crapxles on brand new vehicles...

Please tell me you are kidding that you want the dealer to "compensate" you for emotional stress??? Your "machine" had an issue that was fixed by the dealer under warranty. It now functions as it should. What am I missing here?

You do realize that the GTI is built in Mexico as well right?

Why do you expect any compensation from the dealer in upgrades on your current car if you're considering trading it in for a GTi?

Guy I work with just bought a comfortline Golf from Northland and had the same issue. Ended up wasting a bunch of time going in for various test drives with their techs and until they finally admitted there was a problem and fixed it. He pushed hard for compensation in the form of ugprades but VW Canada ended up offering him 1 month no payment. Buddy pushed back and ended up getting next service free and a car buff thrown in on top. Not what he asked for but atleast he got something for all the BS they put him through.

lol am I reading this right....you wanted to get free upgrade to GTi because of this?!! Man that's the best thing I've read all year! Emotional compensation! My brand new GTi had issues with the seat off the lot and I had to drive it first few days all squished and had to go back to get it fixed (might sound like nothing but I'm 6'4"). I should have asked for free upgrade to R32!!

Seriously though... ya it sucks. Something was missed on pre delivery inspection. But at least its all fixed and now you can enjoy it. I didn't get anything either. If I were them maybe throw you a hat or mug. Free VW Swag always helps! But if going to the dealer causes emotional distress then you should have bought a Honda!

                          Hi there Simon
Glad to hear the positive story of your coworker with his double win with his dealer. I would say he is a smart negotiator much like I am!

Just an update to the rest who wouldn't even dare to negotiate for their own good. Like what every smart man would have done...If you don't ask, you would never get!!! It is all good guys! Thanks for all the negative feedback, but most of all the lone positive. We all can learn! :-)

Without this post below it wouldn't have happen for me. With less than 800 km in i got my upgrade to a top of the line GTI without any trade in value lost after all. It sure is a nice car! Well recommended!

Seems reasonable. You aren't penalized for the cost of immediate new car depreciation/early upgrade costs, and the dealer gets to upgrade you to a Mexican built GTi/$$$.

Just to be clear, you paid 25k for a golf, didn't like it after a few km since it had issues. The dealer agreed to let you buy a 30k gti by adding 5k and giving them back the golf, correct?
