Of course where the weight is makes a bigger of difference, the design of the rim does make a difference. I do notice a difference on the ACR between 19" street pigs and the 16" track tires but that would probably be blamed half on the weigh difference and half on where the weight is 23.5" diameter vs 25.7 inch. diameter.

Here is a good calculator that has all the math. For calculating rotational inertia and acceleration.

MAT PROCESS: Shaping by the MAT process reduces wheel weight by 10%-15%. Every pound of unsprung weight savings has the effect of reducing overall vehicle weight by 20lbs.

It was actually on the way to the car wash after installing that I felt it. So no, they hadn't been washed yet.

I was out today and didn't feel anything, so maybe it was just post install, 5mins down the road, suspension settling back and things just felt wonky.

      Thanks for all the replies!

Wow I like your math! So if my track 16's weigh 38lbs and my street 19's weigh 53lbs, I am adding or taking away effectively 1200lbs!!! Damn Why do I waste so much money on CF. Real world more like 100-140 lbs penalty for running the 19's.

I don't know, I'm just saying my 15lbs thing didn't come nowhere, and I would believe in enkei but I think this is somewhat flawed because it should also be dependent on the engine output like I've said earlier, but for most street cars I guess enkei is probably right

There's a lot more to it than just how much weight is added. Where the weight is on the wheel will have a huge impact. The closer to the center of rotation the less the forces increase. 15lbs is probably some average that enkei found from some arbitrary test.

Jerry you should know that weight placement is everything in this situation, you took dynamics in first year engineering right? You know the sum on the moments and sum of the forces must each equal zero right?

You should come by the monthly meets. I'm sure a lot of the guys will teach you about wheel rotational inertia.
