  • New to the forum with some questions

just purchased a upgraded 1.8t , also drive a turbo charged bmw e30 325ic still being built.

2003 1.8t jetta will have pics up soon manual of course

having a little issues already im thinking its simple used the search button but came up on dont use an MBC ,

here is what the car has and what my issue is ,

-ko4 turbo , boosts up but needs a rebuild oil is in my FMIC and the rebuild kit is on the way ,
    -2.0 coil packs
    -stage 2 apr chip
    -Apr diverter valve
    -3" down pipe
    -3" magnaflow turbo back
    -boost gauge
    -FMIC
-Wire tuck somewhat of a wire tuck
-cold air intake silicon hoses ,
    -catch can

problem is the boost gauge spikes to 21 psi is what ive seen , than puts the car into limp mode im thinking slap on an MBC or a EBC and just lower the boost to a solid 20 psi or what the stock boost of the stage 2 chip can handle should fix my problem ,

getting used to things on the jetta and doing research but its also my dd as my bmw is currently out going a new front end ,

for those who love pics ,

Forget running a manual boost controller all together. The stock N75 will work the best, especially with a proper tune. No special "race" N75, or different series, a standard N75 solenoid. It looks like you still have it hooked up so i'd keep it like that.

You are running a tune meant for a K03 turbo on a car that is equipped with a K04 turbo. Probably not the best idea, i'd try and see if they can give you an "upgrade" to your tune in order to match the upgraded turbocharger. I would take an educated guess as to that being the main source of your issues

^that probably runs too lean with the extra volume of air although the pressure is the same, stock turbo ecu probably can't deal with it

Re: New to the forum with some questions

yes the N75 is still hooked up in there , turbo is a k04 looked at it . and i somehow managed to find the person who built this car and was told the tune was done by a guy whom passed away in Edmonton price of tune and who to go with would be the best bet now this thing hauls but needs some work im fixing but i want it to run and hit boost fine without me having to restart the car every time it over boosts its self

appreciate the help! talked to Geroge at Tunedub and he told me to get it retuned or reflash the tune because if it has the APR2 tune it should run somewhat fine forgot to mention after fixing some leaks it hits 25 psi than spikes into limp mode

        all clean ,

trying to figure out who in Calgary would be able to tune the car or reflash the apr tune , i talked to tunedub he said you probably need a reflash if you go research the stage 2 apr it should work on the k04 turbo , also got 2 engine codes

            p0444
            p0413

which are for the EVAP /SAI

i can put some of those resistors together my self just need to know what OHMS resistor would i need to get these lights off i dislike the "check engine light" and rather it not be on

Re: New to the forum with some questions

im 99% sure the 3 major tuners all have K04 files

              APR - Concept 1 (403) 287-8549
              Unitronic - Tunedub (403) 238-8633
              Revo - Calgary auto works (403) 243-9661

pick your poison and call the corresponding retailer, they can flash your car with the tune same day and you're good to go.

I don't think a tune will cause p0444 or p0413. p0143 is an evap code that deals with your SAI. Almost sounds like your internal wastegate isn't opening and your getting a boost spike. I'd bring it to george if you don't feel like hunting down the issue yourself

no what i mean is thats another problem i want gone not a fan of check engine lights i fix the issue cuz that light annoys me lol! ,

the boost spike happens if i mash on the gas and go! if i let it spool up slow this thing picks up hard and pulls , pretty surprised what these cars are capable of ,

i was always a boosted e30 guy and won a race with my 2.9 stroker e30 up against a 1.8t jetta by a car length ,

either way loving the car just want it safe enough to drive places i like to drive to Edmonton etc and dont want it to just shut off and mess up , 2 couplers flew off today and i had to pull over and fix them due to the couplers being maxed out and not tight enough

We have another even better option at Calgary Autoworks. Eurodyne. Can turn off that CEL for the SAI. It's a little more that the other options but it gives the ability to retune for other mods in the future.

Your evap system solenoid (N80) needs to both be resistored off and programmed out of your ECU for your fuel trim levels to properly adapt again. You can't simply clear it, it needs to be hard coded into the program.

thank you for explaining that now that made more sense and i got the point of why it needed to be programmed , ill call around see what a few places say ,
