mk6 golf tdi small mods

Posting for a buddy. He's got a 2012 golf tdi and wants to do some small mods. Mainly cosmetic stuff just to make the car a bit more him I guess. What do you recommend? Manly diy stuff and I don't think he has intrest in wheels or suspension.

First i'd recommend taking all the cans of black spray paint and VHT nightshades you can away from him to avoid all those modifications.
You can do LED taillights, they seem to be a popular modification?
Slightly different color HALOGEN headlamp bulbs (NOT HID's unless he current has HID's in his model, i don't know too much about the mk6's)
Ziza license plate bulbs
Roof rack if he needs it for anything
Tune

Those would be some small reversible modifications that would make his car stand out a bit in a crowd.

I agree, don't alter lighting too much. I've been caught off guard a few times lately by crappy tail light retro fits, or tinted tails that hardly change brightness when you hit the brakes. No HID's in reflector housings or you'll end up getting keyed.
Interior LED lighting swap is cool (pretty functional too, I find...)

I recommend plastidip VW logos and he wants to tint the tails. Euro plate was over looked even though I rock one lol. Good to know about hid cause he was about to pull the trigger on a set.

Is this his first vehicle? It sounds like it from the ideas of plastidip, tinted tails and HID's. I'd stay clear of the spray on stuff whether it be plastidip or tint and definitely stay away from HID's.

Maybe suggest just some cheap items like interior lighting, a P3 gauge is a great idea and is useful at all times, steering wheel also changes the feel of the car completely.

P3 car gauge costs more than h&r lowering springs and although i have one i don't think it's worth the money and shouldn't be on the top of the modding list.
Color matched side markers, LED interior and license plate lights, a nice lip, wrapping the interior trim, pedals are not expensive, shift knob, hatch pop.

Now to find a way for one in my car lol.

I've told him to ditch hids. No projector so it won't be good idea. He also wants to not put a Euro plate on the front in stead he wants a NA plate that says scuba diver.

I'm fighting a down hill battle now boys lol.

The only tail light mods on a MK6 are OEM LED and worth every penny!!

He's going to go with a osir led shift knob as his first mod and then window tint.
